regret bid

by: Dee

If you accept a bid from a sorority then decide it's not right for you, if you drop out of pledging, can you rush again next season?

I'm pretty sure that once you accept a bid, you can't rush again period...at least here. Which shows you how important it is to think carefully before deciding on a sorority and listen to your heart instead of other people's opinions.

I did think carefully and listen to my heart. It just isn't turning out as expected. Does anyone know for sure if I am stuck now? That doesn't seem fair.

No shade. It's just fact. DPhiE misled the poor PNMs who took bids into thinking they're something other than what they are, and now those PNMs are seeing the truth and want out. The rest are all snap bids who were rejects desperate for any Greek affiliation. I don't know any major college where DPhiE is top or even notable. People talk smack about ADPi, and they do suck here, but at least they have a name nationally. DPhiE isnt even a player.

To be fair to ADPi, a lot of their problem is that they came here the same time as SigKap and SigKap was way stronger from day so ADPi has always been in their shadow. If Panhel is going to keep trying to bring other houses here, they need to let it be only one at a time so everyone has a fair shot out of the gate. Also some stats are just more outgoing and better at recruitment.

There’s no need to single out sororitys. She asked a pretty specific question. All you needed was a yes or no 😂.

Why so shady toward DPhiE? They are only a couple of years old and just had their second formal recruitment so building a history and legacy takes time. How about instead of making fun and bullying them as weird, we empower women who DID accept bids or snap bids to work hard to COB good women to make change and build a stronger chapter that has the power to stay? People make fun of DPhiE now, but soon you'll be adding tri sigma to that too because they're new. Right now, they are investing heavy in who they are going to get, but those bells and whistles aren't going to last once bid day comes, so perhaps the challenge is the same to the women looking to join and start that chapter. Stop making fun of the lower chapters and encourage women to see the value in being greek and have pride in building something better if there are problems there.

No don’t worry! As long as you’re not initiated which you haven’t been yet, you are able to drop and join another one.

Seriously, can someone respond to that poor girl's post?

Sounds like a legit question, which I'd answer if I could but I honestly dont know. Would be nice to give someone real info on this site for once.

Hi, Dee. You can absolutely withdraw now and still be eligible to rush again! If you know this isn't for you, then dropping now is the best decision for you and that sorority.

COB might be something to consider, although I don't know what sororities will be participating. Keep checking the Panhellenic site. Good luck!

As long as you haven't been initiated, you are eligible for rush.

My advice is that if you know you don't see yourself where you are longterm, drop now but do it gracefully. Don't burn any bridges or talk nasty about the sorority or any of the members bc that stuff does get out and then no one will want you. Trust me.

Bump.

PNMs don't realize that people hear what you say, and that can cost you a bid. Gossip got a hella lot girls cut this year.

Yes, if you drop, you can try rush again. Just know you may not be as competitive and should be open minded about options.

If you drop now, you are eligible to rush again but not for one year. So, you can't participate in COB or informal in the fall. You will have to wait until formal recruitment in Jan 2020.
