usually it's someone's girlfriend who's around the house a lot, maybe makes food or cleans up occasionally

That is no substitute for a sisterhood. And after being the fraternity sweetheart, what are you, and what have you got? Nothing. You have no bond with those men. I mean they like you for the moment and all but it's nothing to hold onto after. Sorority membership is for life and your close girlfriends, your sisters, will always be a part of your life.

IRL women have any number of guy friends without being a frat sweetheart. Does every frat guy objectify women? No, not every guy of course, but the whole thing about a fraternity sweetheart is less about honoring the women than it is about the guys' egos getting fed watching the women go for it. They actually low-key compete against each other to be named sweetheart and that's what the frat guys love. You can't blame the guys for this part of their nature but you don't need it to validate yourselves, ladies. Real relationships, with whomever, are far more valuable.
