WSU Ranks for Dummies

by: Brie

Here PNMs. This is all you need to know. Houses within a tier can shift back and forth as far as who’s higher or lower. It’s the tier that matters. I listed the houses within a tier in alphabetical order, not current rank order, so there’s hopefully no fighting:

Top: Aphi, DG, KD, KKG.

Upper Mid: AGD, AXO, Theta.

MId: ChiO, PiPhi.

Low Mid: DDD, Gphi.

Low: ADPi, AOPi, SK.

Yes, PNMs typically are rabid for the top and upper mid houses because they see what house they get into as a reflection of their worth (thanks, high school insecurity). But getting into a top house doesn’t guarantee you happiness, just like getting into a bottom house doesn’t mean you’ll be miserable. It’s all about getting into a house where you feel accepted and it’s a good fit for YOU. Top and middle reflects clout/status in a very superficial way, not fun/happiness/sisterhood. Other than that, your experience will be identical to someone in a house in another tier.

Thank you for this. Its exactly what I would have written, if I could organize my thoughts like you do. I think this post is completely valid. It is so true that the tiers are what matter and not necessarily the order within those tiers.

And yah! - I know girls who joined top houses and then dropped or they stayed and were completely miserable. I also know girls who joined bottom houses and loved their experience. Go where you feel most at ease and excited about your experience.

I agree with things mama! Greek rankings and rush can be an exciting but overwhelming time for young women looking to join a sorority. It's easy to get caught up in the allure of rankings and the promise of endless fun and parties. However, it's important to remember that the true value of joining a sorority lies in the sisterhood and lifelong bonds that are formed, not in superficial rankings.

Every sorority offers a unique experience and sisterhood that cannot be defined by numbers or rankings. Trusting the process and keeping an open mind while going through rush will lead you to the right sisterhood for you. Don't let the pressure of rankings cloud your judgment or dictate your decisions. Instead, focus on finding a group of women who will support and uplift you, both during your college years and beyond.

As you navigate the world of Greek life, remember to trust the process, cherish the connections you make, and prioritize authenticity over popularity. The real magic of sorority life lies in the bonds you create and the memories you share, not in the rankings or the parties. Embrace the journey, trust your instincts, and let the sisterhood guide you to where you belong.

Why do the tiers matter? Honest question. I seriously am curious. What does a top tier sorority experience differently than a lower ranked sorority?

They really DON’T matter as far as your Greek life experience, and a top tier house isn’t necessarily a “better” house, it’s just perceived as being higher status-wise, kind of like the popular groups in high school. Unfortunately, people who come to this site looking at rankings obviously do care about status, whether it matters or not, and rankings do reflect that perceived status.
