If you’re a guy, you can go on the UW IFC website and sign up for “Chapter Builder” so Fraternities can contact you for a House Tour. You can also find the Recruitment Chair’s Phone # on the website and you can reach out to them directly. There is also the ability to go through “Formal Rush” during summer where you get to stay at the dorms for a week and spend the whole time seeing houses. This is especially helpful for those seeking to Go Greek who live out of state. If you’re a girl, the only way you can join is to go through Formal Recruitment during the end of summer, where you’ll get a Bid by the end of the week. A quick and easy experience that places you in the house that is best fitted for you! You can also COB (Continuous Open Bidding) some Sororities during the school year if you didn’t like your Formal Recruitment experience.

For the love of all things fun, RUSH!!! Most of the stuff on this site is negative, and a lot of it is untrue. Literally, Fraternity & Sorority life is 100x better than the dorms, and you’ll find that out very soon. Decent Dorms with a Meal Plan that doesn’t make you starve will run you about $4,500, whereas Frats are only around $2,800-$3,500. Frats are good for lifelong friendships, alumni networking and job connections, academic study partners, and of course... AN ACTUAL SOCIAL LIFE!!!! For Sororities, you can either COB some of them, or try Formal Recruitment in the summer to see all of them during a week. For Fraternities, all you have to do is put your name/contact info on Chapter Builder, reach out to one of the house’s recruitment chairs to schedule a tour. After tours, they will invite you back out and bid you after a few events. Very easy process! Fraternities also pay for your dorm cancellation fee!!

Sigma Chi is literally one of the most whackest houses. Fraternities started as secret societies to better men and make sure the men help and better the community. All Sigma Chi does is kill their livers, beat up and haze their pledges, and disrespect & objectify women. That’s why their alumni barely help them out anymore. It went from Fraternity to Party pad with no morals other than drink alcohol. And don’t even forget about how broken the brotherhood is. It’s barely existent since they have so many members that joined for nothing but the alc and the ho.es. Mind you, they were on social suspension all Fall Quarter last year and nothing will change this year

Great Greek system. One of the biggest ones outside of the south, with huge chapter houses. Hazing is basically non existent compared to other schools, and even the frattiest of houses are pretty down to earth. There is definitely a house for everybody here

Making this strictly about Greek life and parties/looks...UW is embarrassing compared to WSU and absolutely not a party school. The people are very unattractive on the outside and the parties are really lame all together, but the physical frat buildings are nice I guess. As far as pac12 schools they’re Arguably at the very bottom

If you got accepted into the University of Washington, you’re about to embark on the best 4 years of your life educationally... BUT if you want the best 4 years of your life in terms of memories, fun, mental support, making connections, having special opportunities, increased academic support, leadership experience, socializing, and lifelong friends, then GO GREEK! In all honesty, my parents made me Dorm my freshman year and oh man.... the WORST experience ever. RAs tried to make it seem like people would wanna hang out, but it never came true. The dorms were dead quiet, my cluster roommates were awkward & antisocial, and I couldn’t find help with academics that was personalized... to put it straight, the dorms felt like a prison where you go to class, maybe go eat pizza for dinner, and then go to my room to study. Nothing more, nothing less. Only 5 people showed up to the “Movie Night” my RA threw, and the people that went didn’t even seem like they wanted to be there.. Well... I was sick and tired of it so my parents finally allowed me to go through the “Rush Process”. I rushed during summer, join a house, and now I have lifelong brothers who I will see every year at my Fraternity’s Founders’ Day annual event with Alumni & Undergraduate members. As soon as I joined, I started to feel happy and every day was a new adventure at UW. My academics also went from a 3.2 Average to a 3.78 average as a Pre-Med Major! I gained Gym Partners, study partners, FREE printing & study materials, Alumni Mentoring, Unlimited Social Events, LinkedIn & Resumé Networking, Financial & Study Habit Lessons, amazing food prepared by a chef everyday, Access to Formal Events with my house as well as Sororities (Boat Formal in Vancouver Canada), a Trip to Cabo with 80+ of my Greek friends, etc... One of the best parts was gaining the ability to bolster my resume through philanthropy programs throughout the Greek Community, and the ability to hold leadership positions in the house. Since Greek Houses on average have $500,000 to a Million Dollars flowing through them each year, holding ANY leadership position in the house looks amazing to employers. In essence, I went from it just being myself against the world, to being me and all 90 of my brothers against the world. The privilege of being Greek has opened my eyes so much to how fortunate I truly am. Being able to wake up in the morning to my House Group Chat making jokes, giving advice, and having fun, was the best way to start my day. Being in a Fraternity gave me so many little positives that built up over time and made me succeed. Currently, I got my MCAT results back and I scored in the upper 10%, all thanks to my Alumni Brothers who gave me tips and helped me study through the whole process. My friends who were in the dorms and decided not to rush ended up living stressed out all the time, constantly hating life at UW, and ended up pulling out of STEM overall and switching their majors. My brothers in Business got all their internships to Amazon, Google, Microsoft, etc, from an alumni being on the inside and reaching out. My story is just one of MANY positive experiences that UW Greek Members have. At the end of the day, the Greek System has an overall GPA that is higher than the rest of the University, and Fraternities & Sororities are cheaper than Dorms, especially when factoring in all that you get from being a lifelong member to these secret societies. GO GREEK!
