Let’s all appreciate how lucky we are to have such a strong Greek family.

I’m a parent, my spouse and I were both in the Greek system while in college. Our daughter checks all the boxes but she was put through living hell this last week. We expected a much better experience and my heart hurts for her. Things have definitely changed and I’m not sure if for the better.

I am so sorry your daughter had such a terrible experience. As a PNM I was shocked over the behavior of what I see over and over as the top two houses on here. I would never want to call them my sisters. I found them to be entitled and rude, just horrible. They gave off the vibe that they were doing us a favor by being there. I did find other chapters that I felt were genuine and inviting that I connected with.

The fact that you felt the need to come on here and complain about "living hell" for your daughter's SORORITY RUSH is the most privileged, entitled, spoiled thing you could ever manifest as a parent. There are far worse things she could go through and will go through in this life. Be GRATEFUL for what you've got for GOD's sake, there is real suffering for other kids and their parents and they would gladly trade their problems for your daughter's "living hell".

Hey "True", we know you're not a pnm. No pnm is on greekrank the morning of bid day, they are getting ready to run. You are just on here trying to trash two good houses, like your other posts. They cut you or your daughter last year or stole your boyfriend or whatever. We see you.

I am genuinely so sorry for your daughter’s heartbreak and experience. Anyone disliking your comments is just insensitive and rude. I am a PNM, and I can definitely relate. Some of the houses were downright rude imo. I had disappointments along the way but stuck it out.

Put through living hell? Lady wtf do you mean? 😂 Were they bullying her or physically harming her in some way? Jesus!

So she didn’t get the house she wanted, and her life is over now. 🙄 Get a grip.

I can see some on here are just like some of the houses…sad. The system used to be somewhat fair, now it is basement girl brutal.

Newbie, my daughter has stuck with it and will receive a bid which she will happily take. It is just sad that the system has sunk to the low it is currently at. The “trust the system” line is total bs.

I can relate. As a mom to a PNM, it is heartbreaking to hear some of my daughter’s stories of dirty rushing by some chapters, yes, the girls talk, and some being just plain rude. She felt some houses had their pledge classes set before she even walked through the door. She mentioned lots of hometown cliques in some houses. Her biggest turn off with some houses was that she was barely interacted with. My daughter is from out of state I will add.

I was not in Greek life in college and had no way of preparing my daughter. She went in with a good attitude and said she’s met some great people.

On her very first day (philanthropy I think), she called me so excited about this one house that she loved. All week it’s been her top choice. Their social media looks fun so I’ve been happy that she was invited back each round.

Then I started googling… I found this website only to discover sigma kappa considered a lower sorority. I haven’t said anything to her about what I’ve read here. I can’t break her heart.

She was popular in high school, an athlete with great grades and social circle, but not many people from our area go off to UT. She has no connections in any of the houses. She had two houses for preference round, and one was the lower house that she loves. I hope no one makes her feel bad for her choice if she gets a bid from them. Like all mothers, my hope is she finds some great friends to go through the next four years with.

Another Mom, you have an accurate assessment. Hometown cliques have taken over. It used to be very diverse in terms of where girls were from. Mine is from in state and still felt the chill. The only “system” is the one worked prior to formal recruitment.

Also an instate mom and my daughter had a similar experience. I guess we are not from the “right “ part of the state for some houses. I told my daughter she will have more fun in a diverse house anyway.

“Same”, sounds like our daughters should get to know each other. I wonder if they will get the same house .
