I was not in Greek life in college and had no way of preparing my daughter. She went in with a good attitude and said she’s met some great people. On her very first day (philanthropy I think), she called me so excited about this one house that she loved. All week it’s been her top choice. Their social media looks fun so I’ve been happy that she was invited back each round. Then I started googling… I found this website only to discover sigma kappa considered a lower sorority. I haven’t said anything to her about what I’ve read here. I can’t break her heart. She was popular in high school, an athlete with great grades and social circle, but not many people from our area go off to UT. She has no connections in any of the houses. She had two houses for preference round, and one was the lower house that she loves. I hope no one makes her feel bad for her choice if she gets a bid from them. Like all mothers, my hope is she finds some great friends to go through the next four years with.
