University of Tulsa - UT Overview

  About Greek Life at UT

Tulsa is a small private university in northeastern Oklahoma, and its Greek system reflects that — it's a close-knit community where chapters tend to know each other well and involvement can mean a lot on a campus this size. The school sits around 4,000 undergraduates, so Greek life isn't the sprawling machine you'd see at a Big 12 flagship, but it's a consistent presence in the social fabric of campus.

On the fraternity side, IFC oversees chapters including Kappa Alpha Order, Kappa Sigma, Lambda Chi Alpha, Pi Kappa Alpha, Sigma Chi, and Sigma Nu. Panhellenic covers a solid group of sororities — Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, Kappa Delta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and Kappa Alpha Theta. NPHC is also represented on campus through Alpha Kappa Alpha and Delta Sigma Theta, which are part of the historically Black Greek-letter organization tradition present at TU.

Recruitment here works the way you'd expect at a smaller private school. Panhellenic runs a structured formal recruitment process in the fall, and IFC chapters tend to do a more informal, event-based rush. Because the campus is smaller, you'll likely interact with members pretty organically before you even think about going through the process.

Greek housing at TU typically takes the form of chapter rooms or designated spaces on or near campus rather than the big standalone houses you'd see at larger state schools. That shapes the culture a bit — events and social life tend to spread across campus rather than centralizing on a single Greek row.

Philanthropy is a real part of the culture here. Chapters regularly put on fundraising events and community service initiatives throughout the year, which is pretty standard across both IFC and Panhellenic. Greek organizations also tend to be well-represented in student government and other campus leadership roles, which tracks with how tightly woven the community is at a school this size.
