Frat Rankings for Fall Rush ‘25
by: For potential rushees
Tier 1: Zete, SAE: the most fratty frats at Cal. Great parties and solid brotherhoods, but insanely time-consuming and brutal to pledge. Do not expect to join these and have a life outside of pledging.
Tier 2: KA, ATO, Phi Psi: really good brotherhoods and parties. Not as insane as the top 2, but if you’re looking for the Greek life experience without it consuming your whole life, these are the way to go. I’ve never been let down by any of their parties, and the top sororities are always there.
Tier 3: Fiji, Pike, DKE: though these guys don’t throw as often and their parties aren’t always huge, they have great brotherhoods and are extremely respectable. They still mix with all of the top sororities, but due to social or financial reasons, the past few semesters have not been ideal.
Tier 4: ZBT, PKS, SNU: honestly, they’ve all had decent parties. However, from the individual brothers I’ve met, their brotherhoods are somewhat questionable. Yet, their lack of intensive pledging processes does make up for these faults. Lower time cost, lower reward.
Tier 5: The Rest of Them: these fraternities are not as social, you will likely not see top sororities, nor will you have many well-attended parties. That being said, partying isn’t the only thing you do in a fraternity. Join a frat who’s brotherhood you will mix with, not solely off of social status
Final note: as a rushee, check out as many frats as you can, as fast as you can. Go to pre rush events, and try to visit as many fraternities as possible during rush before deciding where you want to pledge. Reach out to rush chairs, get tours of houses, meet as many brothers as you can.
Frat standings are constantly changing, frats like ATO, Phi Psi, and PKS have extremely improved over the last few semesters, whereas previous top frats like DKE and Fiji have declined due to unfortunate circumstances. Circumstances change, brotherhoods don’t.
