Sorority Groups by In State and Out of State
by: Important
Auburn isn't as tier-focused as people make it out to be. The best sorority is the one where you find your people, not the one someone else ranks highest. What one PNM sees as a top sorority may be another PNM's bottom choice. That said, there are some recruitment trends people often describe as "in-state" and "out-of-state" chapters.
When people use the term "out-of-state," they're often referring not just to students from outside Alabama, but also to girls from smaller towns or those outside the traditional recruitment pipeline—even some from major pipeline schools who want a different experience from the rest of the girls in their high school or hometown.
By contrast, "in-state" chapters tend to draw more heavily from the traditional recruitment pipelines (Birmingham, Mobile, Montgomery) and other well connected areas where many members already know one another through school, family, or mutual connections. Some out-of-state students and girls from smaller towns find it difficult to break into these existing friend groups.
The best chapter is the one that feels like home to you!
Based on recruitment trends and chapter makeup, here are the sororities that are generally viewed as more "in-state" or "out-of-state." This is not a ranking, and there are exceptions in every chapter.
More In-State:
PhiMu, KD, ADPi, AGD, XO, AXO, DDD, AOPi
More Out-of-State:
AXiD, SK, Zeta, Pi Phi, GPhi, Theta, DG, DZ, KKG, Tri Sig
