everyone please

I understand that, right now, it may seem important for some of you to come on here and challenge others regarding which houses are "hotter". However, when you graduate, and you are applying for jobs or internships, telling your future employer that your sorority at UF was the hottest is not going to get you the job. Being a poised, intelligent, and sociable person will. Hard work is what will get you places in life. Of course I'm not an idiot, I do realize that, unfortunately those who are attractive can get further in life with their looks, but that alone will not get you THAT far. I just want to ask you guys to try and give rankings based on deeper things, not just appearances. Things like sisterhood/brotherhood, involvement, and if these people are really genuine and good to others. It hurts me to think that some of you wont gain anything from being in your sorority besides a mutual group understanding within your chapter that it's important to be shallow, which is not true nor a positive way to think. There are beautiful girls in every chapter on campus, there are also girls who have beautiful hearts who deserve to be mentioned just the same. Can we please stop judging one another based on looks and come together to teach PC 15' more than just how to be mean to those who aren't within their circle or "pretty"? We're supposed to be their mentors, and so far this site makes us look like jerks, not role models. Let's inspire these girls to be awesome on the inside too.

soo soooo glad I saw this thread. Shows promise for a better and more unified panhellenic community at UF.

Side note:
If this did get brought up in ZTA's chapter meeting I really hope that it was because exec wanted to communicate a way to make positive changes within the chapter. If I was on their e-board this would make me really sad, I would want nothing more than to make my girls feel comfortable after reading something like this.

I hope so too. It'd be a step away from the bad attitudes. They're supposed to elect a new board next month.

I want this to overpower all of the dumb and ignorant ranking posts. WHO CARES WHAT YOUR HOUSE IS RANKED. Clearly this post alone shows that it won't matter if your house is ranked "top tier" if sisterhood and love for one another does not prevail. Learn something ppl.

Very well said, that's why I joined Theta. We're not perfect by any means but we pride ourselves on our bad ass sisterhood. Not trying to brag, but I am proud, especially after reading something like this, as I'm sure a lot of other houses on campus are.

You SHOULD be proud! ΚΑΘ has a solid sisterhood and isn't that what it's all about?!

I'm hoping that this did get brought up in chapter and will be addressed. The girls who are not feeling the sisterhood need to step up and lead the chapter into a new place. You can do it, girls! Don't forget to use your alumnae to help - we've been out in the world and can give a different perspective. ZLAM

The issues have been building for the past 4 - 5 years. The emphasis on appearances has been the top priority for recruitment, unfortunately. Add in two years of bad/no leadership and you see what happens. It doesn't matter how many awards you win with all this going on.

Your young to middle aged alumnae - U.F. grads, not others living locally - have contributed to this troublesome mindset.

It doesn't matter how many Crown Chapter Awards you get if there are all these underlying issues. I'd rather be in a house with happy sisters and no awards.

I'm absolutely positive these girls didn't join because they wanted to spend all of their time playing "the part" to get a Crown Chapter Award. They wanted a family, and I'm sure they can get there with some different and more effective leadership.

Couldn't agree more. Panhellenic community should stop bickering and come together to fix these issues.

I don't see how they can, unfortunately. This is a cancer from within and it won't be cured until Zeta gets new officers and their sophomores and freshmen girls make the changes that will correct the damage of the past several years.

The past few DECADES, you mean! The superior attitudes go WAY BACK!

Thanks to the O.P. for posting such a truthful note. This confirms what many have witnessed and experienced, only to be told we were "jealous" or "vindictive" for our opinions. It also proves the adage about things never being quite what they seem.
