What are these rankings based on?

by: confused

I know this may get mixed answers but in all seriousness what defines a "top" "mid" or "bottom" sorority/fraternity?

As in is it based off reputation? involvement? gpa? money raised?

I just don't know how people come up with rankings unless they are self promoting.

The top chapters are typically very pretty, popular, have near perfect return rates during rush, pair with other top frats, and their involvement/GPA is notable too. I wouldn’t say involvement/GPA is that big of a factor tho— some top tiers are known for being more well rounded and others are more social focused.
this is top tier in alphabetical order: ADPI AOII DDD DG KD ZTA.
preference depends on the person but no one on campus will argue that these aren’t the top chapters. Theta sometimes gets thrown in there because they hang out with a huge range of frats from top tier to middle, and are well liked by frats, but they are definitely upper middle.
Though you can come to campus and kinda see where everyone’s spot is, if you’re looking for a more grades focused house then that should be what matters to you. not whether the house is “top” or “bottom”. just because a house is top doesn’t mean you’ll like it or it’ll be a good fit for what you’re looking for. every house here has their pro’s and cons. so even though there are rankings that you should be aware of, you can have fun in every chapter.

for fraternities at least no one gives af ab "tor score" or money raised. Top fraternities are the ones that have the best relationships with sororities, host the best events, and get the best pledges.

You must be in a low grade srat. All top tiers srats spread for machi.

machi is only top because they don’t do anything wrong and are unproblematic unlike almost every other top frat and even upper mid.

The houses with the top RETURN RATES( what percentage of PNMs want to return to that house after each round) are considered top tier.

not true baby. bottom houses have lower return rates because lots of PNMs try to drop them. they are unable to be as selective and cut as many PNMs as top tiers can. (well they can, but they would most likely be under quota). i know for a fact that ADPI/KD/ZTA have less than 20ish girls (out of around 1500-1800 PNMs) cutting them after round 1 — that’s what having high return rates means.

GPA and money raised is something lower tiers tout so they can say they are "objectively" good. Tiers are based on relevance, popularity, reputation, retention rates during rush, social status, and overall involvement on campus. KD/ZTA/ADPI do not get "cut" by girls going through rush. The chapters have to cut because everyone wants to join them. These return rates, demonstrated year after year after year after year, prove who is the best in the eyes of the 1500 girls rushing. Ironically, those same girls (thousands of whom got cut by their dream sororities) flip to hating those chapters for being fake and cutting them for "no reason". It's just a numbers game. Top 3 get the top 300 girls going through.
