finding your place in greek life?
by: LostAF
Hey y'all,
Im a freshman who didn't rush due to financial reasons (out of state) but have since regretted it and Greek life is always on my mind on campus. I have recently gone through a falling out with some of my only friends in Florida and really feel so lost socially. I know that if I don't find my place at UF, I will transfer home. How many of y'all have found your place in Greek life? I'm an average looking girl who just really likes to go out and hang out with friends. I would love to be surrounded by girls that care about me and want to be around me and I think Greek life might offer that. I'm currently looking at Spring rush and have talked to some friends in houses I like about doing it. I will be putting my dues mostly on my credit card which sucks but I also work. Has Greek life, particularly sorority life, been worth the financial and time commitment for you?
Thanks y'all.

Honestly, I don't think you should rush spring if you don't have a particular house in mind. You'll find your best fit if you go through all of recruitment and just see how you vibe with each house. Plus, no offense but you can't get into a good house during spring unless you know some of the girls. as for rush, just be yourself that's literally the only way that you'll find your place without hating where you end up

What are you looking for in your sorority? If you're interested in tier and 100% wouldn't accept a bid from a bottom tier house on principle, spring probably isn't the best option for you. But if you only care about finding girls you click with, give it a shot. You're under no obligation to accept a bid from any of those sororities, and you can see what they're like before fall rush. You have nothing to lose

Hey im in the same boat as you! Im an out of stater frosh and im looking into rushing spring. Theres a google form on the panhel website you can fill out but I havent heard anything yet. Spring isn't binding and you can still rush in fall by the way , and im sure you know its informal (they will meet you, ask you to come over for dinner or coffee and call u back within the day) and you don't need to visit all houses. Def consider doing it and seeing if you click with anyone but dont force yourself into a sorority this semester bc there will be fall rush next year (most sororitys have a quota system for upperclassmen, i know sophs who got into "top tier" houses so dont worry)
