by: confusedwhat makes the phi tau/delta chi/chi phi group worse than the ones right above them? and if i rushed there will it really be much different?

It's the sororities they're paired with. In terms of your own personal experience beyond that, just get a vibe for the house/brothers when you rush. You'll find your niche. You can have just as much fun with those houses as with any "above" them. Probably more fun if you like who you're with.

Chi Phi is average middle tier that throws decent parties.
Phi Tau lives in the shadow of Phi Delt and ATO, both literally and socially. They are known for their Oasis Party.
Delta Chi throws some strong summer parties. They are more of a southren vibe than Chi Phi or Phi Tau.
Chi Phi and Delta Chi are on Fraternity Row, Phi Tau is not.
You really have to rush the houses to get a feel for the individuals that make up the fraternity. It also gives you a chance (as the week progresses) to see who might be making up a potential pledge class.
