social life of sigep?

by: bro

im rushing in the fall and really like the fact that they focus on academics but still want to have fun at tailgates and parties. Will they still have them or no? I know they get a lot of hate on here but was curious about the actual social life for them

SigEp has a mission to better the world through better men - Balanced Men. Essentially, we're trying to create a different fraternity that differs from the normal frat that we see. We differ from the stereotype of being "fratty." We want to create something in our own legacy that leaves an impact on our campus and nationwide.

Our fraternity men seem to have the idea that they can’t have fun without alcohol. This needs to change.

Sig Ep National's "Balanced Man" program creates unrealistic expectations. While most would agree that hazing is not ever acceptable...Eliminating the concept of "pledging" and being "immediate brothers" changes the responsibilities and dynamics of brotherhood and tradition.

Who is the "babysitter"? Is that a chill alum job or not?

By: rizz
by: Real true Sig Eps

HAHAHA.....The so-called Babysitter will no doubt be someone the National Office will hire. Probably someone NOT affiliated with Greek Life or Sig Ep. No Real true Sig Ep Alum will ever be considered and/or will ever apply so such a useless position.

Pretty sure the alumni hire and then pay the salary for a this kind of job.

Honestly this shouldn't change much about SigEp.

The purpose of a SigEp chapter is to find men who share the Fraternity’s principles and to develop them into Balanced Men who will be the next generation of values-based leaders. Drinking in the chapter facility really plays no role in that mission, and frankly, data from higher education researchers shows that it actively works against a chapter's ability to do so.

Bottom tier, great group of guys though. All are driven and motivated but have a dry house.

Do any of you actually know any sigeps? Have you met any? Cause if you had you would know none of them would post any of this stuff on here. It's pathetic and desperate. They're fun normal guys who sororities like when they meet them. All these posts quoting national policy are either GDI's or desperate guys who have nothing else better to do with their times. Go get a life and worry about your own fraternities

Lol... most of the same information comes out of the mouth of the SigPseudoEppies. On their own website and social media.

If all the brothers are committed to the concept of the "Balanced Man", why do they monitor "the status of individual member's sobriety and the collective chapter's compliance with all Bylaws and residential contracts."?

By: Why?
by: Real true Sig Eps

I just received word from another Alumnus that Sig Ep just closed the Wake Forest University Chapter for violating this so-called "Balance Man Program." This make 3 chapters so far and the semester just started. I see more chapters are going to resist this new program.

Is it true that they don't actually haze or have a legit pledge process here? They seemed like a solid chapter but I don't think I'll pledge if that's the case, seems lame.

It's true they don't haze, for Realz.

If you need that in order to feel legit, look elsewhere.

The Sig Ep man is a renaissance man. He is internally motivated to succeed both professionally and academically. He maintains high standards for himself and his brothers in all aspects of his life. Success-driven, cultured, charismatic, generous, and athletic are just a few words we can use to describe such an individual. A primary goal of the recruitment committee is to market to and recruit the highest quality individuals to lead the campus community.

Fraternities are often afraid to reveal that they have a problem with alcohol, although everyone knows it anyway. But we've seen important benefits from focusing on the problem and taking a tough stand. Recruitment interest has increased, new member quality is up, and more brothers are participating in activities like drama, music, and yoga.

"SigEp explored the design of its existing corridors, leveraging opportunities to create linkages between where its students live and the learning environment of its chapter house. Leveraged common areas as transitional spaces that can be used for breakout sessions or as large-format living-learning environments. Comfortable furniture and soft lighting ensures the space more closely realizes the needs of the members."
