does top tier need connections to get in?

I am a pnm for rush and I consider myself to be social pretty and outgoing. but i am from out of state and have no real connections to sororities other than a few rec letters from my moms friends. is it even possible for me to get into a top tier sorority?

Not at all, UF isn't like Alabama or Ole miss where you need to know a bunch of people. I'm came in from out of state not knowing a soul and I wasn't dropped from any of the top houses.
