They have sorority members/ alumni from other schools come here to meet the PNMs and select the first UF members. Thus won't happen until after formal recruitment. The first pledge class will be very large. Hundreds of members most likely.

Why would it be large, considering it is new?

the first pledge class is supposed to be the size of an entire chapter, like 200. they need upperclassmen and a full chapter, not 80 freshmen like a normal pc. look at what gphi did, alpha phi will do the same thing.

Alpha Phi will NOT be here this fall. They are colonizing Fall 18. They will participate in round 1 of recruitment, where they basically present like a plan for their chapter to the PNMs. Then they will step out. After formal recruitment ends, their recruitment starts. They bring in chapter women and alumni from surrounding schools, probably FSU. They interview all the women and basically select who they want to give bids to. Their goal is to get to chapter total of 253 or whatever it is at that time. They will try and recruit women of all ages to stimulate an actual chapter, with people graduating each semester and such.

Their goal will be to try to get to chapter total their first rush, but if gphi is any indication of how things will go, after their first semester they will loose tremendous numbers of girls and be well below chapter total. According to the official UF GPA reports, Gphi dropped all the way down to 175 after their first semester. Brutally rough start, but not surprising, being part of a random new colony is not as much fun as some people think. In many ways it sucks, speaking from personal experience.

The chapter will defineltey be big at first as our was. THen it will drop significantly because everyone wants be a founder but it's hard at first with so many girls not having established families already-speaking from experience . So excited for alpha phi to establish at UF in my hometown
