rush as sophomore

by: ncsu transfer

Hi! I'm transferring to state this fall and will be a sophomore. How competitive is sorority rush? What I mean is do I even stand a chance of receiving a bid if I am a sophomore?

Sorority rush is not that competitive here at state, but some are starting to become a little more competitive. Only a handful of girls did not receive bids. As far as being a sophomore, you should have no problem getting a bid. I know a lot of people who pledged last semester as sophomores.

Anything is possible as a sophomore as long as you have a high GPA going in. It'll show them you've been doing well. I mean it honestly depends where you fit and connect with the sister so it's very possible to get a bid SK and KD or any other sorority. It seems like Theta is gonna have to accept a lot of people and not be as exclusive because it'll be their first formal rush so they're probably gonna be a good bet.

State will guarantee you a bid if you go through rush.

I had heard of a couple people that didn't get a bid because no sorority asked them back for bid day. Is that possible to not get a bid because that or did they do that thing where they didn't write a sorority down to avoid going back and got dropped because of that?

The have friends in the following sororities that received bids as sophomores, juniors, and seniors:

Alpha Delta Pi
Zeta Tau Alpha
Kappa Delta
Pi Beta Phi
Delta Gamma

I rushed as a sophomore and I had no problem getting a bid from my first choice. It was really chill, just don't say weird things and dress nice and you will be good.

Are you really guaranteed a bid at state? What's the recruitment process like?
