This isn't "technically state school." This IS a state school.

Well of course Miami is a state school, but that's completely irrelevant. All that matters is the size of a school's Greek system, and the percentage of students that go Greek. Miami has one of the highest percentage of any school in the north. For example, OSU has as many sororities as Miami... Yet they have over 4 times the amount of students we do. Less than 10 percent of their students go Greek while 50 percent of ours do. And it's more competitive.

Do you not understand why it's such a big difference... There are 16 sororities here. All the other schools in Ohio have about 9. That's a massive difference. Your odds of being in one of the top 3 at Miami is 180 out of 1000 PNMs. That's not the case at other schools. Not to mention we are ranked as a top 10 school in the country as far as looks so when everyone is that attractive, the competition is hard. And honestly just by looking at the sororities at other schools that are considered the best, you can tell none of them would be top tier here.

The fact that you can't even break 180 out of 1000 down to a smaller number or a percentage illustrates what an idiot you are.
I'm very familiar with Greek systems at other schools. I can tell you our top, middle and bottom look very similar. Kappa and Zeta here LOOK like middle houses at any school -I'm sorry but it is true. Middle houses at any school have a small amount of cute girls and mostly average girls. Same here. Also, we generally have six houses that are considered top, so that makes it easier to get into a top house. This isn't that big of a deal.

You are totally from another Ohio school, trying to defend yourself and it's so funny. You're wrong and hate to see the truth. Kappa and Zeta would be top tier at OU and UC. AXO and DZs here could easily get into the #1 sorority at OU and the #1 sorority at UC. And no, AXO and DZ aren't considered necessarily top tier here. We have a top 3, then a top 6. PiPhi, APhi, and Theta are a lot better than the others.
Second of all, nobody was trying to break down 180 out of 1000 hahahahahahah idiot. Guess that shows the education you get at other Ohio colleges, can't match up to Miami. There are 60 girls in the pledge classes of the top 3 and 1000 total PNMs. Calm down sweetie. I'm sorry you don't go to a school with a good Greek system but if you went here you'd understand how much better and bigger ours is. Sorry Hun.

Yes. AXO and DZ would be top houses at most other schools. But Kappa and Zeta would not. They have a handful of girls that would be, but holistically they wouldn't . The middle houses here are what middle houses look like at most schools. Yes. Theta and Pi Phi are incredibly competitive. Recently Alpha Phi has gotten competitive (not as competitive as people on this board act like they are). But once you take Theta and Pi Phi out of the equation, this school is pretty on par with most schools.
I really doubt that someone from OSU,OU etc would come on here and try to make us look bad....come on.

Statistically and numbers wise, Alpha Phi had the highest return rates last year and rushed number one. So they're the most competitive sorority at this school. Theta and PiPhi are also extremely competitive. I would argue that DG is too, very much so. Stop trying to diminish the sororities here out of jealousy. It's not an opinion who is competitive, it's a fact based on actual concrete numbers. And every recruitment chair and person on Panhellenic knows that.

I think everyone would agree that Alpha Phi is hard enough to get into. But our "middle" sororities do look very similar to middle sororities at other schools. The girls at this school aren't as hot as they want to think they are.

Agree with OP, our top sororities are pretty elite. Did you just say "are"? Think you meant "our"... did you just say "ain't "? Wtf? Please learn how to speak proper English and then get back to us regarding how hard it is to get into a top tier sorority. We may actually listen to you (or at least take your opinion seriously)...

I too am tired of the middle houses trying to sneak themselves into the top tier. It is really pathetic. If you look around or even look on their websites, they look like middle tier girls. This notion that all 1,000 girls that go through rush are gorgeous just isn't true.
