sororitys dropping legacies

some nationals don’t enforce keeping the legacies. At miami there’s a quota for giving bids to a certain amount of sophomores since a lot of people transfer in but that’s about it. I’ve never heard of someone using the legacy thing to their advantage here after philanthropy round

One of the big "merits" that a legacy can bring to a chapter is a loyal family who is more inclined to pay for dues, encourage the member to stay active in the organization, help with events, and make other financial contributions to the chapter or national organization.

It also throws a bone to the alumni- can you imagine how pissed moms would be if their chapter cut their daughter right away? Goodbye alumni donations. Also it’s true there’s a good amount of loyalty going on- my mom and aunt were both thetas so I grew up hearing theta songs and wearing theta sweatshirts and caps. I didn’t end up there, but I felt a connection with the girls because of that and it made my mom feel better that I at least went there second round
