Wondering why they have to accept girls who don't belong in Greek Life?

They give each chapter a set number of girls that have to make up their chapter. In the last couple of years, the number was between 125-135. So, during recruitment for instance, every chapter has to take a certain number of girls to reach that number set. So, during the beginning of the year each chapter has about 80-90 girls (less from seniors who graduated). Because of this, pretty much whatever number of girls choose Pi Phi have to receive them, because they don't get as much retention as other sororities (Not bashing them and I think they honestly are an amazing sorority and wish the stereotypes some people say will fade away because they simply aren't true)

Pi Phi is such a great sorority. They have a amazing sisterhood and you can really tell these girls care deeply about each other. Also they have a very diverse mix of girls. No two girls are the same. They have been doing great too lately with becoming more involved and are continuing to become better and higher in the greek community. I have high hopes that in a few years this sorority could be competing for a top position in the greek community. Go Pi Phi!

I'm in a fraternity here at WVU and I honestly like most of these girls. They're nice and have a great sisterhood, and they're always fun to party with. They struggle with recruiting but they're moving in the right direction for sure. Overall a solid sorority that doesn't get the respect it deserves.

To the rank below me, I agree girls in Pi Phi are classy, involved with their philanthropy, etc. But to say PNMs choose Pi Phi before any other sorority first is a complete lie. I'm not trying to be mean, but don't lie to girls that are going through recruitment this fall and try to compare them to a top tier house on campus because that's far from true. They're bottom tier.

The girls of Pi Beta Phi are very kind. I have some friends from classes in PI Phi and they always look classy and are friendly to not only their sisters, but literally everyone around them. These are girls even I can count on. From what I've seen, they have high values and it really shows. PNMs choose Pi Phi over any of the other sororities because they are genuine girls. Other sororities may put on a show, but they are not being their honest selves. Pi Phi's truly have a strong bond.

I am not in Pi Phi or any Greek org, but I do have friends in here and have been in their house. These girls are so sweet. This sorority has had issues in the past, but they're definitely making moves on campus. I've overheard several PNMs this year say that they want to go Pi Phi. The comments left below are obviously being left by girls in AOPi or Xi because they KNOW that if Pi Phi kills it in rush this year, they'll be the new bottom houses on campus. Such petty jealousy.

Honestly I was creeping on some Pi Phi's and saw sneak previews for their recruitment videos/photos and I'm actually impressed and blown away. These girls are definitely making moves.. I'm in a top tier fraternity down here and the newer pledge classes have made their chapter improve so much. Keep it up!

Pi Beta Phi at West Virginia: They are filled with many, many nice gals. These girls are really down to earth, really really care about philanthropies, participation with West Virginia, and the majority are drama free. The reason why they're ranked last is because of the unfortunate "quota" idea. This chapter has to accept girls who don't belong in Greek life, ultimately anchoring them down from the other sororities. However, this chapter REALLY cares about their sisterhood, so props to them.
