Agree with ^. Go through pref at least, and take that time to talk to the sisters preffing you. Talk about the things that matter to you (it can be superficial like a hobby to something deeper like a struggle you've had, heck, you can even ask how the chapter might help you get your GPA up), and see how a conversation goes about something you're passionate about. It might be good to make notes on the a couple of things about each chapter you're preffing at that made you worried you wouldn't fit in and ask the sister about that. Say they are really involved with their philanthropy and put a lot of time and effort into that throughout the year but you just don't feel a connection to it. You might ask the sister "I'm really impressed by how much work you do with [philanthropy] and how involved you all are, what are some other ways sisters get involved in the chapter?" Or if they're not as social around campus as you'd like, you might ask "during the sisterhood party I loved all of the sisterhood events you guys plan, do you plan stuff with the rest of the greek community? If I was interested in working on that what could I get involved in as a sister?" Remember, chapters are large and you're never going to connect with everyone, even if you ended up at your first choice. But you will find sisters you will love to death and who make your college experience amazing. Also, sometimes being a "big fish in a small pond" can provide you opportunities you wouldn't get at a larger or more popular chapter. Take a shot as not many chapters offer many informal bids, and you typically need to have connections with sisters and meet the min GPA to get one. If you really don't connect, then take the next two semesters and get your grades up and get to know greek women outside of recruitment. Sometimes having someone in the chapters who know you well can offset a bad GPA (a little, but minimum GPAs are still there).
