transfer student from another school
by: transfer girlAre the sororities open to accepting transfers from other school? Like if I am already in a sorority at my school and transfer to State. What about during the fall semester when spots are more full will they still take me? Thank you!

Each chapter has its own rules and regulations based on their own national policies. However, in all cases I know of, if a member is in good standing with their current chapter (no academic, financial or behavioral issues), then transferring and affiliating should be no problem, regardless the current chapter size of the chapter at the school you want to affiliate with. MSU Panhellenic cannot disallow someone from affiliating with a chapter based on chapter size.

You would need to follow your own sorority's national procedures for affiliation. It is usually not automatic that you can affiliate; most national sororities allow their chapters to decide if they would take a transfer because just like rush it's about best fit. Usually the transfer would meet with officers and some members to get to know each other a little and then it would come before a chapter vote. If it didn't work out then you would be an alum.
