How rankings are determined
by: Wondering. So what is used to determine rankings. Is it solely based on looks? Or are other things taken into account. Is chi o only high because of their GPA? Is adpi only low because they are the newest? What determines ranking?

It’s a combination of so many things. For chi o, I would say yes, GPA is a huge reason they are top. They’ve had the highest GPA for 20 years or something crazy. But they also have (dare I say) the most popular philanthropy event - Limelight. And for adpi I would say being new is the reason they are considered lower. Houses like Chi O and DG have very strong roots in MS and have been here for a very long time which automatically gives them a leg up. With all the houses in between, it’s more of a combination of different characteristics, and looks do play a part. For example, Zeta has a GPA on the lower side, but is still a more desirable house for many PNMs than some houses with higher GPA. My guess is because of the amount of pretty girls they have. Same for Phi Mu. Not as great with involvement as the top 3, but above the others because of the consistency in attractive pledge classes. Involvement on campus is also a huge factor. This sets the top 3 apart from the rest but every sorority has gotten pretty involved members recently, so involvement numbers may begin to look more similar across the board in coming years.

Our sororities, IMO, are superior to other big schools because we define the best as truly well rounded groups, not just pretty members and instagram models. Our best sororities are consistently recognized by their national organizations for excellence in grades, philanthropy, involvement, and retention. On campus they’re not only in every organization, but also running those groups. They have good grades, a good mix of personalities and hometowns, and typically can talk to anyone/present themselves well. Every sorority has members like this, but the higher the concentration of those types, the higher the rank.
