To the students who feel the need to imply that it's only small-minded white rednecks that aren't enrolling at Mizzou, it's been reported that black applications are down 19%.
"The station reports that a memorandum was sent out from the University of Missouri’s Office of Enrollment on Monday, January 4, that said, “941 fewer freshman had applied to enroll at Mizzou in 2016 compared to 2015. That is an almost 5% decrease year-to-year.”
However, the report indicates that the biggest drop in new freshman enrollments is for black students, down a whopping 19 percent from the previous year."
Good job, Mizzou.

"A potential drop in enrollment and the threat of punitive budget cuts by the General Assembly have the University of Missouri operating “in financial crisis mode,” a top campus official said Wednesday.
Gary Ward, vice chancellor for operations and chief operating officer of the Columbia campus, said during a meeting of the Regional Economic Development Inc. board that the university expects enrollment to drop by as much as 900 students next year. Ward, a REDI board member, said the loss of revenue from those students, many of whom would likely be paying out-of-state tuition, would be made worse by a reduction in state funding.
“They are very, very angry with the University of Missouri,” Ward said of lawmakers. “The discussion is all the way from a haircut to no funding.”
Again, great job Mizzou.

Maybe it's time for CS and our SBP to step in to admit, just like saying the national guard was on campus, they were hit by a car in which the University President was in etc that much of what they started was also not fact driven. They really did so much for this University, didn't they?

He's the one who said to get away from the windows because the KKK was on campus. Could that type of racial rhetoric possibly have contributed to the drop in African American applicants? It's worth considering...

Are you KIDDING ME?! As Concerned Student and our Student President would tell you-being a minority on this campus has benefited them GREATLY! Until THEY threw away the TRUST that the STUDENTS of this campus put in them-when they CHOSE to lie. After the last poll of minority students-MORE MINORITY students said they felt SAFE, WELCOMED AND HAD JUST AS MANY OPPORTUNITIES, IF NOT MORE. Where are those results you ask? Good question.Considering that poll was governed by a MAJORITY of MINORITY students, a few of the aforementioned 'leaders' decided IT SHOULD NOT BE PUBLIC.And what a shame now for all of those minority students who are afraid to go here, because 2 of the aforementioned students who are attending this university for basically nothing(they will not be leaving with any student loan debt) minorities have been scared away from this campus. Take a look through our student pages-government, clubs and various organizations-minorities have more opportunities at Mizzou than so many other MAJOR universities. Our MSA board had 5 minorities and 1 white. I guess if we are talking averages, that doesn't quite pan out does it?But again, I for one am disappointed that I am still trying to convince friends from home that this is a safe campus and the DOCUMENTED cases(if you can even call it that) came from 2 aforementioned ,voted in, leaders. They had their OWN agenda, not a certain races agenda, in mind when they started this in the fall.THAT'S what being a minority of campus is

For college students, some people on here certainly need to learn how to read. NOWHERE does it state that minorities opinions don't matter and they should not be listened to. What the OP and others are saying is that the SBP and others who created havoc on the campus with their outright lies...he knew very well that he was not working with the National Guard and NEVER should have spread fear about hate groups being on campus without having absolute proof...have to take some responsibility for the decline in minority interest in our school. Whatever the original intention of the protests, and while the protests themselves did not become violent, the aftermath of what happened DID give our school a bad rap.
