I keep hearing rumors that Delta Zeta is coming here. Has anyone else heard anything like that?

Yes, I keep hearing the same rumor. Has DZ been invited to colonize by the NPC @ Mizzou?

Nope. Can't happen unless
1. PHA and its delegates vote to open for expansion
2. Mizzou puts itself on the official NPC bulletin that it is open
3. ALL NPC sororities not currently at Mizzou (there are 26 total, so 11 aren't here) get a chance to submit a packet about why they should be chosen, and DZ chooses to submit
4. PHA and its delegates vote on which ones get to come to visit, and DZ is one of the ones chosen
5. 3 or so of them come to campus and visit and give presentations
6. PHA and its delegates vote on which one to choose, and they choose DZ.

Want a new sorority or two at Mizzou? Talk to your PHA delegate.

We already let SK, PhiMu and Sigma in, and they don't exactly have great nationals. Let's make those houses better before we add more.

i believe presentations are happing sometime after spring break, or they already happened. you are right about the process, but that process started last fall. you're late to the party. DZ has a chance of coming to campus.

Then that's the best kept secret on campus. Pretty impressive to do all of that and yet none of the PHA delegates have said a word to any of their chapters, and we somehow bypassed the requirement of notifying NPC, etc., etc.

Until a sorority or fraternity gets kicked off that one of these sororities can come in, this isn't happening. No national sorority is going to risk coming in and spending millions of dollars to build a house when the likes of Sigma, SK, and even Phi Mu are struggling. Stop with the rumors already.

SK is the biggest house on campus right now. Tell me how are they struggling.

SK, Sigma and Phi Mu are doing just fine, so stop with the "Struggling" rumor...... ZETA. We need you are the one spreading this about the other three sororities. There is plenty enough college women at Mizzou for another sorority to start a colony.

by: Zeta

It's true! Zeta is sooooo threatened by the other bottom tier houses they will do anything to try and get ahead! If anyone is struggling, it's ZETA - not the other three! When no one wants to join your house, or all your new members want to drop... Yeah zeta be careful what you say!

You know what would happen if another sorority came to Mizzou. The top and high-middle tiers would stay the same and the bottom tier would just expand. Girls who go through rush want to be in a house with a rich history and a strong reputation and would continue to drop out of rush if they only had bottom tier choices. So there is no guarantee more women would join a sorority instead of dropping. And the bottom tier houses will continue to have retention issues even if DZ came. I agree that we should strive to make PhiMu, SK, Sigma and even Zeta stronger before adding another house. When sororities take dozens and dozens of girls in spring in order to keep their numbers up, that is not a thriving house.

But Sigma IS struggling. They have around 200 members when everybody else is near or over 300. Even Phi Mu is bigger by about 70 girls.

Sigmas may be nice and have good sisterhood, but that's not going to keep them from getting their charter pulled. A sorority is a sisterhood, but it's also a business - and you don't keep a business open that's hemorrhaging money.

"Girls who go through rush want to be in a house with a rich history and a strong reputation and would continue to drop out of rush if they only had bottom tier choices."

As long as women on this campus keep espousing this type of snobbish idea of what greek life is and is not, you're right, PNMs will keep dropping. And they will miss out on one of the best experiences of their life, because they listen to people like you who care more about being popular than about making lasting friendships and having a deeper connection than just the surface level of "look at me, I'm in a 'good' house."

EVERY NPC SOROR

EVERY NPC SORORITY HAS A RICH HISTORY AND STRONG REPUTATION. These are organizations that have been around for 100+ years and have weathered the test of time. Every one of the 15 NPC groups at Mizzou is amazing.

I wish everyone here would stop trying to sell PNMs on the idea that some houses are good and some are bad. Yes, maybe some are stronger in certain areas or are more popular. But there is no bad house here.

I saw DZ representatives on campus back when Sigma Kappa was being slated to colonize. The big thing is that they need a house in order to colonize. SK beat them out because they already had a house. I don't think DZ will be invited to colonize until another house is kicked off campus. DZ wants to be here though, it's just a process.

Didn't phi kapp get kicked off? So they could possibly buy their house couldn't they?

Possibly! They'd still need an invite to colonize though.

Honestly if people would stop getting on this website and continually perpetuating the stereotypes and which houses are bottom tier, then all of our chapters would flourish. How many posts do we see every day from pnms asking about recruitment? They obviously get on this stupid website and believe everything the classless and insecure trolls have to say. Then when they go through recruitment, they automatically write those chapters off because of what they read on greek rank. Abolish this website and watch our bottom tier chapters improve!!

Could someone address this with PHA and see what could be done. This site is an embarrassment to the whole Mizzou Greek community. Can we choose not to be included on this site? If it's not possible can we at least put a paragraph in the recruitment book sent to PNMs letting them know what our opinions are about this site? This site does a disservice to all of our houses, not just the bottom tier but in my opinion is most harmful to our PNMs.

First of all, just by observing that "Girls who go through rush want to be in a house with a rich history and a strong reputation and would continue to drop out of rush if they only had bottom tier choices," that doesn't mean that the person who wrote this is encouraging such a thing. Facts are facts, and when PNMs don't get asked back to the type of house they want to join, they often drop rush. And it isn't necessarily this website that determines which houses are outstanding and which are "meh." The sororities often do that themselves by taking girls who don't do well academically, who might not make grades in order to stay in the house or stay in school. And do people really think that if it weren't for this website there wouldn't be any bottom tier houses? I'm sorry, but you can instantly tell that confident girls like ChiO's, TGriDelts, Theta, ADPis and PiPhis have a completely different attitude than girls in bottom tier sororities. It shows during rush and then if PNMs go to the Mizzou Greek Life website they can tell which houses are struggling -- both when it comes to grades and numbers. Doing away with this website won't accomplish a thing until all lower-tier houses aim a little higher.

Sure, there are differences superficially that can be seen through our lovely recruitment system. But, when a house is trying to improve and move past those stereotypes, this website is always here to continually remind EVERYONE of their stereotype they are trying to get rid of. I've noticed with many of houses that a lot of stereotypes are even bred from this website! I could post and comment every day the same thing about the same house and people would start to believe it. Also, it's human nature to only remember the negatives than positives. In real life and greek town, people don't talk about tier systems, stereotypes, etc. they base their judgements off of the girls or guys they know in the house. Mizzou greek life in real life is a strong community. This website shows the complete opposite. there are only so many girls who have great grades, involved, attractive and social. Those girls go to the top houses and it trickles down from there to the bottom. So please do not blame the lower houses for just having poor judgement, it really comes down to the amount of quality girls rushing that year.

I'm simply saying that our bottom chapters could probably improve immensely faster if this website were not a thing. If all of our houses were at least at quota and could keep a full house, then maybe chapters like DZ could be added.

It is outrageous to blame the poor showing of some houses on a lack of quality girls going through rush. I doubt there have never been as many outstanding girls going through rush, ever, in the history of greek life at this school. Grade cuts (at the houses that do grade cuts) have never been higher. We could have filled a pledge class last year with just girls who had 3.9s or higher (unweighted) who also were outstanding in other ways, and attractive. No, the problem is that the lower-tier houses generally are those with lower-tier national that just don't know how to put on a great rush. And many houses are greedy and just want to fill a pledge class instead of being more selective. If you are an outstanding PNM and have a conversation on the sidewalk on the last day of rush with a girl who really doesn't have that much to offer, it makes you less likely to want to be a member of that house and have that girls as your sister.
