Hey there friend. There is nothing wrong with getting tattoos or nose piercings. I have two beautiful tattoos and I am in what most consider a top house. But, during recruitment, sadly, how you look does matter. In all honesty it's hard to really get to know a girl in the 10 minutes they're inside your house so how you hold yourself and present yourself physically is a big contribution. Do what you want, but also consider if you can possibly remove it or cover it during recruitment. :)

Wtf you all are petty af. I know plenty of girls who have small stud nose rings that are cute and hardly noticeable. I know girls who have a small hoop and pull it off. What kind of message are we sending here "oh we're open and accepting to everyone.....but not if you have a nose ring! Get out of here!" If you personally don't like them, that's up to you but don't be a b.i.t.c.h about it

No they don't. If you want to leave yourself available to every sorority, then dont go through recruitment with a pierced nose or ANY tattoos anywhere. If you're only interested in the houses that accept those things, then pierce it. This isn't meant to be mean. Just honest. The only way you'll be appealing to all the houses is without piercings or tatts. If you want to eliminate certain houses before recruitment even starts, then go ahead. Honestly....

^^^^^^ yes to all of this. Or better yet, be unique and make yourself stand out with stellar grades, a winning personality, a real interest in other people, lots of honors and leadership roles and looking and dressing your best. If you have to resort to self-mutilation to stand out, God help you. But if you choose a low-rent way to express your individuality, expect to wind up in a low-rent house.

its up to you. there are multiple women in my chapter who have them and rock them. its just an expression of who you are. I feel like it really shouldn't matter what you have pierced but your personality and what you can bring to that chapter specifically. just be yourself and it will all work out in the end.

Wow I don't think I've ever seen so much negativity before. I'm coming from out of state, so I don't really know how these sororities view things like piercings, so I just came to ask a simple question? I'm glad it got answered (so no I won't be getting it) but I didn't think people had to be so rude about it? Is everyone in a sorority this mean?

I agree with everyone on this post, that a nose ring right before recruitment may not have been your best idea. But to answer your final question, NO not everyone is this mean and petty in Greek Life. I don't know why people went crazy on this post.. And I apologize on their behalf. I hope you did not get the wrong impression of Mizzou Greek Life!

as a PNM you really don't want to take this site seriously. the girls on here are petty and rude. you do have your bad apples but most girls in greek life here at Mizzou are total sweethearts.

Keep the nose ring, get a few tattoos, don't shave your legs or underarms, don't wear deodorant or perfume, hit on some of the sorority girls who talk to you, declare yourself "Bi" and then have fun on Bid Day at ADPi!!!
