GPA requirements to rush
by: NewbieI will be a freshman at Mizzou in the fall and I plan to rush. What sororities will drop me immediately before the first round bc my gpa is a 3.4? I want to know so I won’t be blindsided when I get cut from houses I may like.

It depends on whether this is a weighted or unweighted GPA, how competitive your high school is and what your ACTs are. The top houses don't ever want to lose girls because they are struggling in school, so they don't ever take girls who might struggle -- plus they want girls who will boost their house GPA, not bring it down. Their grade cuts are very strict (PiPhi, Theta, ChiO, ADPi), but for some other houses that doesn't matter. I think the bigger concern is whether you can balance all the new member stuff with academic demands. That's a lot going on your first semester of school and, of course, grades should be a priority. College is a place to start over. You might want to decide what your priorities should be before you decide to rush.Good luck to you.

Thank you for the input. Ive been taking AP classes the last 2 years and am raising my gpa to make it the highest it can be by my final transcript and my ACT was a 25. I started lower because I had an undiagnosed medical condition that impacted my grades/attendance freshman and sophomore years. It’s under control now but it’s hard to pull a gpa up when it started a little lower than I would’ve wanted. I know I can prioritize academics while being involved.
