You also must be pretty oblivious to what's going on around you. Did you not see girls crying because they were cut from their favorite houses? Did you not see girls in the dorm dropping out of rush and going home with a broken heart? Did you not see girls accepting bids to houses where they never thought they would wind up, just because they figured it's better to be Greek no matter what house you're in? And lots of girls with good grades who were involved in high school didn't breeze through rush. So if you get off on feeling superior, good for you. But have a little compassion for god's sake.

She neither named her house nor stated she wasn't Greek. So we don't know for sure, do we? But she did ask for a little compassion for those who had a tough time during rush. And since almost 50% didn't wind up in a house(for a wide range of reasons), I think she has a point. I try to keep this in mind every day since my roommate was devastated that she didn't get into a house she wanted. A little understanding goes a long way, especially in these troubled times.

But that's not exactly true, is it. There are houses that are extremely selective and make heavy cuts (ChiO, PiPhi, Theta) based on grades, activities, leadership, etc.) and then there are houses who will take just about anyone who keeps coming back during rush. You can have the best attitude and make all the "genuine connections" you want (or at least on the first day), but if you don't have what the best houses are looking for, you will be a one-day wonder.
