pref day

by: ?

A previous post said that pnm's will visit only 2 houses on Pref Day. Is that true? Will that make it harder to get a bid? Curious as to why the change, seems like it'll make things harder on finding the right house.

On pref day you will visit a totally of 3 House! Each day you will be cutting houses to narrow it down for pref day and bid day! Some girls won't have three houses left on pref day, they might only have 1! It won't make it harder to get a bid! You go to a house on pref day because you selected them and they selected you. They want to meet and talk to you once last time before they place there bid on you! It also won't make it harder to find the right house! All through the week you will be selecting the houses you want to keep going back to and houses will keep selecting you so that you return to their house! Each day you will cut out the houses you know aren't right for you. The houses you have at the end of the week are there because you kept them around, and they kept you around! Trust the system!

I know there was talk going around that it was being changed to 2 but I just hadn't heard anything about it after that. If the websites says two then yes it changed to two! Either way the format still stands! When I went through pref day I was lucky enough to have all 3 of the houses I wanted, but some people only had either one or two! The same thing happens just you have one less house, which means you'll cut one more house a day before pref day.

Instead of just ignorantly blabbing on, how about not answering the question unless you have accurate information. Wouldn't that be refreshing?

How about... Take your anger out at the gym or something instead of random people online

What the F are you talking about? The OP said a previous post indicated PNM's will visit only two houses on pref day and asked what the change would mean. Then one of our favorite trolls who is likely an alum and who is on this site all the time took more than 500 keystrokes to distribute what is not accurate. Granted this site has few redeeming qualities, but one of them is to disseminate up-to-date information and changes to past practices. So if you don't have the latest information and aren't tuned into what is new, why go on and on and on and on with misleading information? Find a new hobby besides camping out on this site. You can't tell me her post was in anyone's best interest.

This year (and from now on) you will only visit two houses on preference day. It will not make it harder to get a bid. The idea is that by only visiting two houses you have a more realistic view of which houses you might end up with, rather than having a house that really has no intention of taking you but kept you around for numbers. That way you have more time to accept that the house that might've been your second choice with three houses is the house you'll be in, and put them as number one. With only two houses more girls should get their first pick.

In my experience, I ended up getting my third choice on pref day. I'm super thankful now it worked out that way, and trusting the system was good. But, if i had only gone to the two I preffed as 1 and 2 on bid day, I wouldn't have a bid. It makes sense to try to eliminate houses you realistically won't be in earlier, but I think cutting down to two houses will hurt some people.

That remains to be seen. If you are invited back to a house on pref day this year that will mean a house can see you as a member, whereas before they were inviting some girls just to fill out a certain number of spots. My guess is that if PNMs have two houses to go to on the last day that both of those houses are serious about her. No one really knows, but we will see how this plays out.

the idea is that you would've gone to 2 and 3, or just 3, because houses will have less girls visiting them on pref as well. Plus, as long as you preffed 1 and 2 and didn't do anything crazy, one of those houses would have had to bid you. They have to put everyone they invite to pref on their bid list unless they get special permission (from nationals and PHA) to release you. However, bid list is in order of who they want, so if quota is 85, they get the first 85 girls on their list that also put them number one. If someone in the top 85 doesn't put them as number one, then they'll get #86, and so on. However, at the end once every house meets quota, if you don't have a bid they will place you as a quota addition to one of the houses. This ONLY works if you maximized your options - if you suicide you are ineligible to be quota addition. It also only works if you have a clean background (ie they're not going to learn anything compromising about you on pref day through an alum that would lead them to drop you) and you are polite and courteous (if you think you're too good for a house and are rude to them, that can be enough to be left off their bid list).

How do you explain the several women last year who 1) did not suicide 2) did maximize their choices and 3) still wound up getting a phone call saying they would not be pledging? How/why did the system fail them?
