Alpha Phi... what is going on in your house? They COB'ed in the fall AND spring... and are still below total?? They didn't do a small 5 girl COB either... They COB'ed in the fall and were at 300 at the end of the semester... COBed 12 girls in the spring and still only had 292. Meaning 20 girls dropped this semester?? But you claim your retention is fine.
Stop comparing yourselves to tridelt and GPhi on here. It's clear from the numbers (including your GPA that's below the all-female average) that you are lower-mid at best. I mean, the only other houses that COB'ed both semesters were Sigma and Phi Mu... even SK and Zeta didn't, and you have the guts to consistently rank yourselves top tier.
Maybe you should get off greekrank and actually build relationships with your sisters. Or study and get that GPA up at the very least.

Poor GPA or not, their sisterhood is incredible and the girls are sweet as can be. Too bad certain other sororities feel the need to tear them down, I think that says more about you than them though.

Most sisterhoods on this campus are amazing. If Alpha Phi thinks they are the only house with a great sisterhood, well, that says more about them than the rest of us. And if Alpha Phi had such a great sisterhood, its members would do what they could to remain a part of it instead of flunking out, dropping out or just leaving. Smart girls can be nice to each other, too.

SK and TriDelt did NOT COB in spring, according to PanHell stats. They had NO new members reporting grades in spring. It also is unlikely AXO COB'd because while they reported new member grades, that's because their initiation is second semester (as is ChiO's). At 13, Alpha Phi had to take more new members (COB'd) than any other house in spring. As others have mentioned, their grades are awful which means their retention is, too. They lose LOTS of girls who flunk out, drop out or return home because their parents don't think they can handle the freedom. Now, you were saying??????????

SK totally did COB. Girls were talking about it all semester. The only way that I can see the new members getting around the grade reports would be if they were initiated in the fall or something like that.

Yes, Aphi loses girls due to grades and leaving school. So do a lot of other houses. Alpha Phi also loses girls to graduation in December, or going on Alumni status because they're student teaching. This opens up the ability to give girls bids who they didn't have room for on their bid list in August. For a group of people bashing a group for their academic downfalls, you are all suffering from the tunnel vision that, "it could only be because APhi is stupid and has bad retention!" Use some logic, ladies.
Also - let's maybe not point fingers and say any house has a bad sisterhood. If you're not part of it, you have no idea.

Logic? Yes! Let's put it to good use. EVERY house loses girls to early graduation (though it's far more likely in APhi's case that girls take LONGER to graduate). EVERY house loses girls to student teaching and going abroad. But it's Alpha Phi that continuously COBs to keep up their numbers. What's the difference? APhi loses MORE girls to leaving school, flunking out or not making grades. And I agree with the person who said a good sisterhood wouldn't let that happen.

You're not using logic, you're making assumptions with nothing concrete to back it up, other than "talk" that goes around GreekTown. Reminds me of the time my sister was living in Columbia and a rumor started on campus that Brad Pitt was here - he never was. But enough people talked about it, so it had to be true!
Yes, Alpha Phi absolutely needs to work on academics. However, you're just not correct for so many reasons. Yes, they lose girls due to grades. But it's not the only reason - Period. The sisterhood isn't broken for letting girls fail and anyone who says that is ignorant. Like someone already mentioned, you can only help someone who will accept your help.
Please, don't hold back from sharing your findings that would back up any of these points you've made. How many members of Alpha Phi are part of the percentage of kids who leave Mizzou a year? Because unless you are on exec within a specific chapter, or have an insight with PHA or the University to actually see the reason why girls are are leaving, you do not have anything to back up what you're saying. You're just another sorority girl with an agenda against a specific house and, well, guess what.. it isn't going to matter when you're graduated and working in the real world what your house GPA was.

^everything about this! Fact is that a graduate with a 3.4 is going to be in the EXACT same position as a graduate with a 3.1 or even a 2.0... Unless you're in the top % of your class (3.7+) you will be in the exact same position. This means that, based on grades, our typical graduate in every single will be in the exact same position. If you want to mention internships, or job apps that require transcripts, again you will need higher than a 3.7 to get anything significant. Which is well above our average Greek student. So get over it, it's irrelevant.

There's no way to mis-report the number of new members you take. That's not allowed. Everyone knows Tri-Delt lies about grades or claim girls took a semester off to hide their bad grades but you can't hide an entire COB pledge class. It's not realistic.

Put this whole Aphi thing to rest. they are a fine house. do they get their top choice of girls, no. are they the smartest, no. the prettiest, no. BUT WHO CARES?!? As stated, they are a fine house, girls who stick with the house are so happy. the house gives WONDERFUL opportunities for girls to stand out on resumes regarding ex board etc. they are a GREAT national organization. ALL sororities at mizzou will be suffering in the next few years because of the 'drama' that brought the university down, so that's not just alpha phi, they are a great house to get in to-let's end this convo already!
