sors

by: Possible Transfer

So right now I'm going to be starting at a school in the fall and rushing. But I have a feeling I might be transferring to a different
school but I love both schools so I'm not exactly sure. Would it be possible to join a sorority at a different school and then if
I was to transfer join the same sorority?

You need to get your act together academically before you even think about rushing.

Why would you assume she doesn't have your act together academically... I transferred here with a 4.0 at a more competitive school to be closer to home

She hasn't even started at one school and already is thinking about transferring? The reason you go to college is to get an education. The reason you choose a college is because it offers the best program and the greatest likelihood for success in your field. This is a girl who doesn't have things figured out academically and rushing should be dead last on her list of priorities. And if you transferred here from a more competitive school just to be closer to mommy and daddy, you don't have your act together academically either (unless you are in the J-School, in which case you never should have gone elsewhere). It's a nasty world out there. You have to be as well-prepared as possible in your chosen field. Going home each weekend to do your wash and eat home cooking won't help. And even though people will start commenting on how they came home because their mother was sick or something like that, there's not a mom in the world who wouldn't want what's best for her child's future. Unless of course you are just here to get your MRS.

There are 5 active sorority girls that I know personally who have lost their moms in the past two years I've been here. To make comments like that is seriously hurtful.

If my mother were dying, I'd take a semester off. Or a year. And sorority life would have been a really low priority. But posting about her on an awful website like this one would have been the ultimate insult.

Mine, too. She died of embarrassment because I kept coming back on this site.

Why in the name of God are you blaming it on the girl whose mom passed away?? This girl is a real person and half of the Greek community knows who it is, now you're going to go and blame every negative post on her?? Do you know who you're talking about clearly you don't I'm so hurt by the way you people are acting this is literally the saddest thing I've ever seen

Actually she is in one of the houses you said she hates so clearly you don't know who it is. Please stop making her life more difficult, it's basically naming names rn and you don't know what you're talking about.

The REAL answer to your question is yes, you can join a sorority at one school and then rejoin that same sorority at your transfer school. But only if it's the same chapter. So you need to make sure that the sorority you join has a chapter at the school you're planning on transferring to.

There's actually no guarantee. We accept some transferees, but only if they meet the same standards as the PNMs we take. In other words, their grades and activities must be up to our standards. And because it is very competitive to live in the house (and not everyone gets to because pledge classes are so big), it is unlikely they can ever live in, especially if they affiliate as sophomores and would seek to live in junior year. In my opinion, if you can't live in the house it would be difficult to make lasting friends.
