low gpa-should or shouldn't rush?

by: bamabound

I am attending Alabama in the fall and am really interested in rushing. Unfortunately my overall high school GPA will be around a 2.7. (I go to a rigorous classwork school in northern virginia but I'm not sure if that counts for anything) I also have a 24 ACT and 1620 SAT score. I am a triple legacy for tri delta and am also involved in a lot of extra-curricular activities with and outside of school. Will rushing with such a low GPA ruin my chances of getting a good bid? I am nervous to wait until sophomore year to rush because I am coming from out of state and want to meet new friends and people as soon as possible. Does my low GPA make me need to rush as a sophomore or do I have a chance as a freshman going into rush at all?

Here are your odds for the top houses.....2500 PNMs
3.0 cut off for most houses, but one house requires higher GPA
Some houses take 1 or 2 PNMs below 3.0 but they are usually in the 2.8-2.9 range. AND those girls are typically legacies or have a best friend or relative in the house.
If you go through and are released, many houses will NOT consider you if you go through recruitment as a sophomore.
You are going to have heavy cuts, you may end up with a house or two but odds are you will not. SO you have already limited your options for rush the next year.
Best advice, MAKE YOUR GRADES and go through recruitment as a sophomore or do COB in the winter.\n\n\n\n\n

There's no point in bumping a thread from 2016 there are plenty of threads on grades from the past few days never mind two years. The gpa cutoff has changed since 2016 anyway. Also It doesn't matter if you're a legacy to tri delt they're not really focused on legacies UNLESS the legacy is also a great pnm. The only way they'd possibly take a gpa that low is if they're instate with major connections and have influential members pulling for them.
