pnms: tiers don't matter!
by: ActiveI'm going to be honest in this post. When I came to Alabama I thought I would be in an upper tier house, definitely old row. On bid day I was extremely disappointed to open my bid and see a house that was considered very middle of the line. It wasn't a house everyone wanted to drop but it wasn't a house that everyone wanted either. One of my roommates is in the same sorority that I am in, one is in a very popular old row house on campus and the last in is a house that isn't know to be a "good" house at all. Thought first semester we all realized that we belonged in the house that we ended up in though. I have sisters that I love and have met my very best friends. They're beautiful, fun girls that I love going out with or spending a night in eating a pint of Ben and jerrys. I'm happy in my house, but that's not what I was ever worried about. I was worried that other people would care. I was worried that I wouldn't talk to boys or that people would judge me for the letters on my shirt. Yes, I've realized that it was immature to worry about these things in the first place, but I've also realized that this isn't the case at all. My roommate in a "lower tier" house will be going to an old row fraternity's formal soon. My roommate who is in an old row sorority hasn't been asked to any. I'm not hating on old row sororities, and if you fall in love with phi mu or tri delt then list them first!! But if you bond with a girl at a house that isn't on top, trust your gut.

THIS IS UNFAIR TO PNM's!
PNM's, I'm going to help you all out here. Tiers matter. You want to reach the rarified air of the old row? Fine, by all means, go for it. But if you haven't been in touch with us since 8th grade, you don't have a chance. Daddy's rich? BFD, we're all rich. Smokin hot? Woopdie doo. I'm hotter than you on my roughest day.
So sugar, it goes like this. If you don't know which Old Row house is working for you...right now...it ain't in the cards. Find yourself a nice little new row house with the other Shelby County girls and enjoy. You'll fit right in and, before you know it, you'll forget the heartbreak of being in one of the best sororities in the country!
Have a blessed day y'all!

The OP is so true. The high school mentality wants to care about ranks and stuff. Boys don't care what house you in. If you are hot they are into you if you are not they are not into you. That simple. The uptight or spoiled xyz is not gonna all of a sudden boom socially and the fun girls in a "lesser" house won't just fade away.
