The system is set up to give bids to as many girls as possible. Bama has the largest recruitment in the country in terms of number of PNMs going through. But both Bama and Ole Miss have high bid rates (percentage of PNMs who receive bids).

IMHO, Ole Miss is more difficult because there are fewer sororities.
Not because Ole Miss sororities are "more selective."

Fewer sororities doesn't mean anything except higher quota

I wouldn't say one is more "difficult" than the other, rather, it's just two kind of different systems. Both schools have top-tier sorority systems, but Ole Miss is MUCH more tradition-based and conservative as a whole. So if you are OOS at Ole Miss, you are kind of SOL. But I would say that recruitment at Alabama is more tiring because the process is longer, it's bigger, and you can get really dejected really quickly being surrounded by so many "perfect" girls.

I'm from MS but I go to school at Alabama and trust me when I tell you, my friends that went to Ole Miss that would be in a "top tier" house at Alabama had a much more brutal experience at Ole Miss. They still got in a sorority but it's much more cut-throat at Ole Miss
