rushing

by: AGDLegacy

My grandmother (Dad's side) was a charter member of AGD at a different school. I was just wondering what people thought about AGD/ their standing at Bama? I am torn between BAMA, Ole Miss, and Mizzou!
Does being a legacy for AGD at Bama help during rush? This is the only house I will be legacy too, but I will have plenty of recs for the rest.
My brother is an SAE, so I thought coming to Bama and both being Old Row (hopefully) would be so next, especially since we would both be members of our legacies. :)

Your legacy status will not get you into AGD. There are a bunch of threads on here about legacy status. You will get a free pass to round two, then you are on your own. AGD has a lot of legacy pnms come through so you should expect that you will get a bid from them only if you otherwise would have received a bid (that is, your legacy status will probably not matter). Don't know about the boys.

On AGDs standing. They are well regarded and to my knowledge not on any sort of probation or anything.

Legacy status will not get you into alpha gam not even if your grandmother was a charter member at another university. If you truly want to be an alpha gam I would not recommend the chapter here. They have very poor sisterhood. Like terrible... They will throw you under the bus in order to keep their "status"

What "WTF happened" just said is that AGD has no backbone, and she thinks that is OK for a group of women in 2016. Think about that.

Why not go to the best school you can get into (from your list I would say Mizzou) then join the sorority where you feel most at home? Just a thought. Good luck.

The thing about agd is they have an"in" sort of crowd and an "everyone else" sort of crowd. But problem is one day you are in, and the next you are out. Same with Phi Mu.

BTW, you are not a legacy at Bama AGD. If your grandmother was a charter member of her chapter, and she is maybe 70-80, then her chapter was started in the 50's or 60's so it is probably not a very prominent chapter. I echo the sentiment above with regard to not counting on her to get you in.

Go to Mizzou and pledge a house with some nice girls in it.

If you are cute, fun, smart, etc than being a legacy can really put you on the radar for your legacy sorority if you do not know any current active members. If you are not the whole package than being a legacy will simply get you a free pass to the second round of rush.

AGD is a top group at Bama. Bear Bryant's wife was an AGD....now his great-granddaughters are AGDs.
Being an AGD legacy will only get you a second look when they're going through recs. They can't invite back all legacies to second round - they could fill a couple or three pledge classes with just legacies.
If you were a granddaughter of a founder of the Alabama chapter, then you might get a pass. I doubt you'd get much attention as the granddaughter of the founder of another chapter. BUT - it might pique a little attention (in a good way) so be sure your recs have that info.
Good luck!
