rushing as an out of stater

by: Azrolltide

I'm a senior in high school from Arizona and I've decided to go to college at UA. I'm very interested in Greek life and I was wondering what Rush is like for someone who is not from the south and that can't really attend any of the summer rush parties. I'm really interested in a fraternity for the brotherhood, philanthropy, intramurals, and of course the partying. Could anyone give me an idea of some New Row fraternities that are known to bid out of state boys? Also, when is a good time to contact the rush chairs?

Start contacting all old rows and the good new rows in the spring around late Jan/early February to go to parties in the spring, or contact in the spring and try to meet em at Bama bound for orientation. Don't limit your self to new row just bc you're out of state

Will do thanks for the advice. Which new row fraternities would you consider the "good" ones?

It's pretty rude to ask who's "good." A member is of course going to tell you that their group is the best.
Visit as many fraternities as you can. Check out the websites. If you are on campus for ANY reason, meet as many people as you can.
Fraternities go for personal connections.

This is Alabama. Every single Greek organization is on a different caliber from other universities. Go where you feel "at home". Stop placing importance on rank for social climbing purposes.

If you are a social climber, we sniff that out fast. You will find your right fit by just working hard to hang out with as many different frats as possible. If you get all worked up about what others think about this or that fraternity, you will end up being shunned by the frat that may have been the best fit for you.
