so-called "member" resigns from the machine

by: The Machine

I'm sure you've all read her article in the CW or read the most recent article called, "Alabama version of 'Skull and Bones' publicly exposed."

What Alex Smith has failed to mention in all of her interviews is that SHE was endorsed by "The Machine" when she ran for A&S Senate last year.

Without "The Machine" she could have potentially not even won the election.

Mr. Jay Reeves may have sat down and talked with this student about her article, but he didn't do his research.

He writes, "She publicly exposed The Machine in a first-person article published by the campus newspaper and she resigned from the group."

It's somewhat comical the AP and other media outlets would release article s claiming a member of The Machine resigned; because in order to resign, she would have actually had to be a member of The Machine.

All of the news and attention over the last few days isn't being directed properly. The story portrayed through the media is incorrect.

It's simple: Alex didn't resign from anything. She remains a senator, but now chooses to represent ALL student, not just Greeks. \n\n\n\n\n

Doesn't matter if she was an actual member or not. The point is made either way. The machine looks terrible (as is) either way

This is nothing but a student political party. She broke rank from the party, basically biting the hand which fed her. Many national, state and local politicians do the same every day. It is fine for her to do as her convictions lead, but to act as though the party is evil for making voting suggestions to her is ludicrous.

You people do realize that every other decent school thinks Alabama is a joke with this Machine business, caring about Homecoming Queen, etc. Maybe time to end it, and stop giving people who feel "entitled" things that they do not deserve.

But without the machine, how would people who aren't good enough to be a part of the machine know that they aren't good enough? Long live the machine.

In every article I've read she has acknowledged that she was elected as part of a Machine slate. As a UA alum and a UA sorority Past President, I applaud her courage. It is refreshing to see a young lady with enough gumption to simply speak up and do the right thing-- for all UA students. My hope is that many others will follow her lead!

For some old lady, why are you on this website? Get a life and do something more meaningful than sit on the computer and read Greek rank.
