Because they allow the frats to decide their worth by if they are chosen for pairs or social events. They are fighting for attention from the frats and are mad when others get the attention they want.

They don't hate each other.
Just see what happens when a rushee disses another sorority during rush. She'll find herself released from rush by ALL the groups. Yes, even if the comment is about a "perceived lower tier" group.
