I was just admitted to Alabama last week and want to do a sorority. I am a very friendly girl & am really involved in a ton of stuff. But i have a 2.8 GPA. Does that automatically mean i can't get in a sorority?

I also got a acceptance letters they sent out last week. I have a 2.6. Could I get9 in?

I rushed last spring and I had a 2.9 they make the first cut based on gpa. I was only left with 2 houses, Delta Zeta and Gamma phi. It does matter and will limit your options. I ended up getting cut.

Keep an open mind about all the houses Maybe some with a lower gpa will pick you up.

Maybe it's higher weighted! Do you have a lot of philanthropy experience under your belt? That could help a lot too! And most importantly just show off your sweet, bubbly character and I'm sure plenty of sororities can make slight exceptions. Good luck!

A 2.6 is not a "slight exception."
They might for a gorgeous legacy with big volunteer work or accomplishments outside school if you had a 2.8, but a 2.6?
You're screwed.
I don't even know how you got into school. Maybe through a special program.
Honestly, you need to pledge the library and bring up your grades. College is WAY different from high school. I know a lot of kids who hardly ever studied in HS and then didn't even know how to study when they got to college, with all its distractions.
Improve your GPA and then we can talk.

top end scores on the ACT or SAT will get you into virtually any school in the SEC, save Vandy. Just a thought.

You'll find a house. Probably alpha gam will take you. They took a ton of grade risks

Most chapters can only take a certain # of "grade risks" and have to consult with alum about why, prove their case for the PNM, etc

So basically it has to be somebody completely awesome, a legacy or a good friend of a girl in the house
