While new row pushes ahead with all things "current", old row sits back in a "ancient" tradition. Both have +/-.
I'll just say....you can't live the the past forever and it's time to adjust to the change. It has arrived. Some traditions are embraced. Most are not.
There, I said it.

Thank you for saying this!! Traditions die hard in the south, but sometimes it's best to just accept that times are changing, and that it's perfectly ok. And the changes really are for the betterment of our Greek system and our University. It's fine to recognize the importance of traditions, but it's one thing to reminisce about history, and an entirely different thing to be stubbornly stuck behind in it.
There @Bear/Saban, we said it! :)

is getting so annoying. new row cares more about old row than old row. reading this board as a pnm i thought old row were mean, catty, and only took alabama girls so i wouldnt have a chance with any of those houses during rush. that was so far from true. yeah they have more alabama girls than new row houses but this IS the state of alabama and these are the popular sororities that they want to pledge. but the claim that old row thinks theyre better and just takes alabama girls that ate mediocore is so absurd. every house wants the best girl whether theyre from al or california. goes to show this board is filled with moms and alumni bc this was probably true when they went to UA but things have changed so much since whenever they were an active member. theres more stuff on here about old row this and that than there is new row. cmon, its making new row houses look jealous more than anything.

You're an OOS NM of an Old Row house that has the reputation of taking primarily in state girls. Cool. Realize that they likely took you BECAUSE they need some OOS girls to try to balance out the in state majority so they don't continue to be labeled that way (which, as an OOS PNM, scared you). So you might want to get up off of your high horse, sweetheart. And if you are OOS, why are you sticking up for the STATE of Alabama so much? The University, fine, but you can't sit there and say "well they want the best girls regardless of where they're from" and then say "but this IS the state of Alabama so they're most popular among Alabama girls". I'm in an Old Row house too (but we don't have that "in state/only certain HS" reputation, which I'm proud of, and all I can say is...bless your heart!
