This is a decent list, but it is obviously with an old row bias. I know of so many quality pnms that were missed by old row and they landed at ZTA, ADPi and Pi Phi, mostly. The thing is that Alabama connections and high school popularity does not often translate to college and many kids are late bloomers -- and really hit their stride in college. The old row mentality misses those pnms so often because those kids don't have enough girls from their high school scene in the house pulling for them. Maybe they were not the cheer captain, or whatever. Its fine though because all the houses are great. I think, though, that the old row approach is causing them to take a lot of pnms that are not really great members and instead just keep doing what they did in high school -- keeping the clique together so to speakl. It hurts the chemistry of the pledge classes for those houses. Just an opinion. I see it on facebook and insta all the time. These girls from the same high schools all happen to end up in the same houses.

I agree 110% with everything you said. I think most people have been especially impressed with ZTA's, ADPi's and Pi Phi's PCs for the exact reason that you stated- many of their NMs got dropped from Old Row houses only because they didn't have the HS "connections", but still had amazing looks/polished appearances, outstanding personalities, awesome grades, great activities, volunteer work etc, and glowing recs. These girls will really contribute a lot to their organizations, and have a wonderful experience with their sisters. Meanwhile, as you said, Old Row will continue to take girls from the same high schools and try to keep their clique together, but because they overlook so many amazing PNMs, the girls they do get often aren't the most productive or valued members. It's sad, really. College is the time to figure out who you really are, try new things, meet new and different people, and just force yourself out of your comfort zone-and your sisters should be the ones encouraging and supporting you doing these things, not trying to stifle it.

Well stated. I want to close this by being very clear that all the houses this year really did great and there is definately a leveling going on here. The differences between the "top" and the "bottom" are becoming very difficult to justify. This is a good thing for the students and UA. I actually am very proud of what is happening at the Capstone and the Greek system. Just wish the pledge classes were not soooo huge. But that is a totally different topic.

Im in a new row house and many of my sisters in my pledge class and I preffed our house over an old row house. Not everyone thinks old row is the only way to go.

In-state girl that wanted to branch out and went with a great new row house by choice. But still nothing but love for all of the houses, old, new, stale, fresh or whatever -- and my friends scattered all around them.

Alabama! I have to say though your greek system mirrors University of Texas in the Old Row vs. New row battle. Your top six will always be the top six due to history just like Texas. Even if one of the sororities has a bad pledge class they will always be one of the more coveted ones just like University of Texas system. I am glad to see all of your old row had a good rush as well as the New row. Your a great school, congratulations!

Is Texas experiencing a similar change in its student makeup as Alabama? Lots of tx kids coming here and the big 6 mentality is apparently helping Bama pi Phi and zeta bit maybe not theta.

This is actually really accurate. Although contrary to popular greek rank belief i think you should switch Chi O and Kappa. Or at least move Chi O up one.

I actually would move Kappa down instead of Chi O up. Agree they are about the same this year. I like what Chi O is trying to do, though, to restore some order; it will be interesting to see how this Chi O PC does as a group and whether they will be able to put on a good rush next year. Kappa definately is sliding, but with a new house next fall they should be back to a good place. I also think the OP has Phi Mu over-rated. I would move them down a level. AXO is on top, but they made some strange decisions. Some pnms are in there that I was shocked about. Sort of DZ or APhi types. Honestly. AGD did well and put on a great rush, but they also made some very questionable decisions and took some pnms that in most years would not have been in any old row house. I think they tried hard to take clusters of friends that had like one top pnm, then two or three average. So it brings down their class as a whole, but they did get some of the pnms that were on a lot of radars.

switch aopi and theta and this list is pretty accurate

I could agree with that. Theta gets too little credit for the awesome iOS girls they pull. Aoii may get too much credit for some pretty average in state girls from big feeder schools.

Move alpha chi down with tri delt and alpha gam, sorry they aren't the top but one of the best. Switch ADPi and phi phi, switch Dz and DG, then this this is good

Those are good corrections but none of this matters to anybody anyway. Well, except to ambitious high schoolers and moms....

AXO shouldn't be all by itself, especially with its spring GPA tied with XO.

AXO really is on top by itself right now.

I bet they do. It's not like they suck now or anything. Just traditionally one of the tip top and not at their reg standard. People just jump them like as fast as they can. Xo is a strong house and won't be average for much longer.

I'm not saying that XO should be up with AXO but I'm saying that with XO tied for GPA and AGD only hundredths behind, AXO is starting to slip on the top GPA slot that they push for so hard and other houses are starting to catch up. And it's totally ridiculous to have them alone. They aren't the only standout sorority.

Xo and agd may be creeping up on gpa, don't know about xo but agd's pc did not improve their standing relative to axo. They are not at the same level and may have taken a step in the other direction. There are some strong girls in that pc but also some really weak girls that just are not in the league. The back half of the agd pc15, pulls them back and keeps them from being a real threat. KD actually did better. If anything KD and ddd are the houses making a move up. IMHO
