preferance confusion
by: ???Ok so I'm not rushing this year but I know a bunch of people who are and I am majorly confused by preference (I think)! If on pref night you have 3 houses and one clearly stands out as your top house can you just list that house and not the other 2? If I understand the computer program correctly, the system matches you up to the house that has you on their first list. If you don't happen to be on the first list to any house, you are then added to your first choice as a "quota addition". By only listing one house can you essentially guarantee a bid to that house through the "quota addition"? For some reason this doesn't seem right to me! Can someone please explain? Thanks!

no, by only putting one down you are suiciding yourself, therefore you are not eligible for quote additions and snap bids. but if you MAXIMIZE you options, you are guaranteed a bid! Please do not worry about it now, recruitment is a long way away! you'll understand next year. but first, enjoy your senior year, and secure your recs!

Only listing one house (single intentional preference) is called suiciding. The likelihood of you getting a bid to that house is very slim, and if you don't receive a bid to it (weren't on their first bid list) you will get NO BID and are NOT eligible for any quota addition or snap bid. Take some time to actually read through these threads and realize before you come that it's one of the worst decisions you can make to only list one house!
