As a potential new member, these are my thoughts
by: pnm 2023
as an instate pnm who has met and grown up with girls in every house, this is how I see it. Not based on OR or NR, but based on desirability and overall character.
1st tier: achi, ddd, phi mu, kappa (I would put alpha chi and tri delt over phi mu and kappa but that’s just because of my personality, so I’m keeping them on the same row)
2nd tier- KD. very selective and highly desired but only desired by their girls with exception to the few others who were hurt by the cut in rush
2nd tier- chi o. highly desired but less southern conservative girls want them over the other OR houses bc of more liberal girls as members. chi o rly doesn’t care either bc for the most part they only want legacies. therefore, does not feel fair to put them as top tier. there are so many chi o legacies from it being such a big national sorority that it covers a big chunk of their bid list.
3rd tier- zeta. highly desired but not as much as chi o or kd. but more than the others. gets its own tier
3rd tier- pi phi, adpi, aoii, alpha gam
4th tier- dg, dz, gphi, aphi
5th tier- SK, Theta
more thoughts. as a pnm I want a well rounded house. not focused on winning homecoming, not obsessed with top in grades. for the houses focused on that, realize you’re scaring away self driven and accomplished girls that are trying to get away from toxic competition that they dealt with in high school. the alpha gam incident revealed truth in this theory. therefore from that, I’ve been told to make the most connections with ddd, pm, kappa, & zeta. correct me if I’m wrong, obviously I don’t go there YET! Roll tide!

You are completely right in the aspect of not needing to be in the most homecoming winning and top grade having house. It’s exhausted and it’s a constant front and those girls don’t do much socially. You were right in keep your sight set on tri delt, kappa, zeta, and phi mu as I would basically put those as top 4. Axo and chi o and kd are too but in a very different way than what you are wanting. And then agd just isn’t that good.

Just a reminder so you fully understand . You do not choose houses . They choose you . If you go into rush with set houses you want , you are going to be very disappointed . These people on here ranking is just setting you up for a week of tears . The actives know when you have that kind of I want top tier attitude , it shows all over your face. I suggest you keep an open mind.

The houses you listed to make good connections are all great houses. Your class will have 120-140+ members...quite a variety. With total house number of over 400 girls, there is drama. Some is made public, a lot isn't. I am OOR and my house is a mix of girls from the local regions and some OOR. There is drama...
Good luck!

hey girl for an instate pnm those are definitely accurate ranks lol. the old ladies are just big mad as usual bc their entire self worth revolves around whichever old row Alabama sorority they were in 30+ years ago. they try to do damage control on this site bc god forbid an 18 year old girl prefers ZTA or aphi to an overrated OR house filled with boring and exclusive locals.
also i wouldn’t write XO off, as an OOS girl i really like them! maybe i’m biased bc i’m liberal too lol, but they’re probably the instate girls that are the friendliest and most welcoming to me

Wow. Way to completely overreact. She means look at all houses and base them on your experiences with them during recruitment and not comments on a gossip website…which is actually a very Panhellenic attitude to have.
You might want to work on that “yelling at people who are trying to help you” thing.
