Dropped by houses

Got no cuts until after sisterhood (before pref) where I got dropped by 2 houses (that I wanted), but I’ve heard a lot of girls got only 3-4 houses to begin with and then got dropped by some of those throughout the process so it completely depends on the person

It's different for everyone, there really isn't a pattern. Remember it's not personal, there are just so many girls going through and houses have limits for each round. I think top houses usually take around 130 new members, some of the houses that are needing to build their numbers can take more. I wish there was a way to mentally prepare for the cuts but there really isn't - it's going to sting, it happens to every pnm and it sucks. Just remember that everyone can only have one house in the end and the entire greek system at this school is one of the best out there.

After the first round, it feels like a lot of cuts because nobody can return to more than 10 houses for second round so everyone feels a little stung after that one. Plus, houses haven’t even met you in person for 1st round so the cuts are based off of different things for each house and not you personally. There will be a several houses you don’t even get to see in person.

Cuts after sisterhood feel very personal because you’ve met a lot of people by that time, have been in the house a couple of times, etc. After that round, everyone is down to 2 houses for preference. Not getting your two top choices after sisterhood round or only getting one house (unless it’s your favorite at that point) is heartbreaking. It happens to a lot of girls.

I was a bit shocked after first round- and I had 9 invites but the cuts still felt harsh. I went to Pref at my top two favorite houses so no stress on bid day. I will say, however, my favorite house changed as the week progressed. Keep an open mind.

If you are OOR with no connections, the cuts by OR will be brutal after 1st round before we even meet you. It’s not you, it’s just that we have so many Actives that personally know PNMs and we are going to pick the girls we know over ones we don’t. We get attacked for doing this but why wouldn’t we place more value on a sister’s opinion of someone she knows personally over an application and a video?

Do pnms ever read the old threads?

Like other girls said, it depends. I don’t know if I was dumb or really that clueless about the process, but I only got 4 houses back on the first day. Never realized that you don’t meet all the houses before a round of cuts. Sometimes you only start with a few. Connections and grades matter because you won’t ever see some of the houses.
