Why call out Sigma Kappa like that? You could have just asked the question.

So, you've already assessed based on social media accounts and garbage posted on GR on what houses you want and what houses you'll easily get a bid from because you are better than they are? Um, ok.

I would not take anything for granted during this process and do NOT be under the illusion that you actually have a choice during recruitment. The houses choose you.

You have nothing to lose by following all of them. It looks entitled and arrogant if you only follow a few top houses. That’s not a good look for anyone. You can always unfollow houses after bid day.

Follow them all. You may be the it girl at your local high school but during a recruitment of 2,300 girls, you are average. Trust me. Recruitment is a humbling experience and being on Bama campus where there are so many beautiful, smart, outgoing girls, you should not risk offending any house.

If you are attractive you have it made. I know countless pnms that were attractive that did next to nothing and landed in one of the top four houses. All that crap you read goes out the door. If you are an average looking high school senior with solid grades, activities, nice resume and decent connections you are just one of many. I will be honest that looks do get you far in recruitment and after that the battle begins. I have no problem admitting it.

^ I hate to admit it, but from my experience and what I have seen I agree with the poster above.

I would agree, except I know beautiful girls who were cut from the top four because of grades. Beautiful girls with low grades probably won't keep any old row, but will still probably have a shot at Zeta, aPhi, and some other new row.

The gorgeous girls that did next to nothing and landed in a top house, were they in-state or in-region, or have connections?

The gorgeous girls I knew that went through had solid grades coming into Bama. Their gpas were competitive enough, but I won't say they were outstanding. Their resumes were nothing to write home about compared to countless other pnms. We all knew they landed where they landed because they were attractive. They will tell you that also. One of them had houses falling all over her. It is what it is. Looks do matter.

There are different opinions on what 'attractive' means. At some houses, the all-out makeup/nails/hair/tan look rules, at others it is considered fake and tacky. Some houses view subdued natural prettiness as the ultimate in beauty but other house would consider that look as plain and boring. Either type house would cut the other immediately. There truly is a vibe for everyone.

Connections are 10 times more important than looks. If you went to a Southern high school and know a lot of Actives, you can have mid looks and get top OR houses. If you are really attractive but OOR with no connections, you’re going to have a harder time.

Looks matter but connections matter way more.

With so much emphasis on looking good, I see tons of my fellow PNMS using what I think are filters. I don't really use any facetuning and I think I'm attractive, but it's hard to compete with beauty filters. My consolation is that maybe girls will show up looking nothing like their photos while I will.

Does that happen? Where PNMs don't look like their photos or video?

YES! There are always a few of these girls who don't look a thing like their photo/insta and it's such a disappointment. I mean it's sad and funny at the same time because at first we think we've got a pnm confused with someone else and that we really messed up, and we keep looking at their nametag, but as we talk to them, yep, it's really that same person, because the major/hometown/activities, etc match up. It's pretty much an automatic cut because it's too hard to get past it. OR, there's always a few absolutely gorgeous girls that we are excited about but as soon as they open their mouths and start talking it's a total nope. Both types are such a let down. These instances happen mainly with OOR girls that no one has close ties to so we would already know what they really look like or how they really are in person.

For girls that actives don't know yet, first round cuts are mostly based on gpa, social media that doesn't fit the chapter's image, missing letters of rec, stuff like that. After that first cut you'll meet everyone in person and it won't matter who uses social media filters.

Really nice active representing Bama. Hope you are not my sister. The poster will find out soon enough what she is up against and you do not need to post like that. I am also glad you admitted it is all a game because it is and no one wants to talk about that.
