I think it probably is great for some girls and I think it also depends on where you are from. I'm from the south but still oos. I love sorority life at bama but APhi is like a clone of the top houses I see from my friends at their Big10 and Pac 12 schools. Greek life is very different here though and there is a lot of history and tradition, so the "party" houses won't always have the best reputation. I will say though Aphi probably does get the girls they want and they girls who go there seem to like the party scene, so I think it's good that we have a mix of the party houses and more traditional houses. Especially because we do have more OOR/OOS girls coming here now, so it's nice to have houses that are a fit for everyone.

Lol sorry I just can't imagine being our age sitting in one of my classes being SO worked up because a girl in ANOTHER house did something "wild" at a party and you are nervous how everyone else is going to view your own house lmao. Maybe leave bama for a bit and take some deep breaths.

Girls in ALL houses do stupid sh%t. Give me a break. OR Grannies like to pick on NR. I'm an active and there are party girls that can be embarrassing at each house.

good news! Aphi always has plenty of spots open in their membership they are trying to fill. they can't fill a nm class even on bid day morning so you won't have any problem getting a bid.

One thing to know about A Phi in general is that their HQ has heavily pushed looks-based recruitment in the past. This is not just at 'Bama, but at every school. This has caused quite a scandal at a number of schools (you can google it.) I don't know if it's still the case, but it was not that long ago.
When you push looks-based recruitment, sisterhood will inevitably take a hit, and the chapter in question will have a higher drop rate.

They are known for recruiting girls who will just stay for 1-2 years. Freshmen and sophomores who decide afterwards that they are not worth the money and juniors / transfers who decided to get a bit of taste what it’s like to be in A sorority. If you compare pledge classes to graduating seniors… you will not find familiar faces.

It amazes me the hate for this group. No one should care what their model is for recruitment. No one should care how long their members stay. If it works for them, so be it!

It must be jealousy over the actual girls. All the aphis I know are invited to all the frat events and look to just be having so much fun. I notice the same thing with zetas too. I don’t think it’s jealousy over being in the actual house but I think it’s jealousy over the attention and social status view these girls get. The reality is these are social orgs and that’s where aphi and zeta thrive and is why they swap with top frats and are invited to all their things. Maybe take the anger out on the boys?? Or not even because girls do the same thing with frats and how we view them. We aren’t taking about their grades or retention.
