Sorority Retention?

by: Future Rushee

How are srats currently doing with retention? I'm an incoming freshman who plans to rush. Which sororities have retention issues, where lots of pledges, or even sisters, drop out? Thanks.

It's pretty smart to be interested in retention numbers, that tells you a lot about how much girls like their house and want to stay in it. I've seen numbers released before but I don't remember how to find them. The UA Panhellenic site has a COB list, that tells you a little bit. If you see a house on there that usually has a lot of interest during rush and gets a full pledge class, being on the COB list may tell you they are losing a lot of older girls.

Spring 2022 Membership Rankings/Stats

Since everyone is so busy posting drama, thought it might be good to post something factual for diversity sake. You’re welcome. The following sororities had top stats for membership at the end of 2022:

Top Three
1. Kappa Delta 426 with no COB
2. Alpha Chi Omega 424 with no COB
3. Phi Mu 421 with no COB

Top Half:
4. Pi Beta Phi 409 with no COB
4. Alpha Gamma Delta 409 with no COB
6. Kappa Kappa Gamma 408 with no COB
7. Chi Omega 405 with no COB
8. Delta Delta Delta 400 with no COB
9. Alpha Omicron Pi 396 (plus COB 6=400)

Mid:
10. Alpha Delta Pi 391 (plus COB 5=396)
11. Delta Gamma 386 (plus COB 19=405)

Upper Lower:
12. Delta Zeta 376 (plus COB 4=380)
12. Zeta Tau Alpha 376 (plus COB 10=386)
14. Gamma Phi Beta 356 (+COB 13=369)
15. Kappa Alpha Theta 294 with no COB

Lower:
16. Alpha Phi 292 (plus COB 50=342)
17. Sigma Kappa 224 (plus COB 4 =228

It should be noted that the chapters at Alabama are all strong in comparison to other universities, but this helps show where they stand in relation to each other based on actual numbers share from reports.

Gamma Phi Beta - COB 13

Zeta Tau Alpha - COB 10

Alpha Omicron Pi - COB 6

Alpha Delta Pi - COB 5

Delta Zeta - COB 4

I mean, COB isn't a terrible thing. It exists for a reason, sometimes things happen. A girl graduates early, a couple drop out for any reason, it's too bad, but totally normal.

But 50??? Alpha Phi, you're really REALLY bad at this.

Can't recall a single pnm that ever asked me about retention rates during recruitment week.

Cause it would make them look nasty and you would block them. So I am okay with it and I can answer OP question

Yeah I’d be afraid to ask any questions like this during rush week. I’m bypassing the drama I see posted and keeping an open mind since I know the sororities are the ones that pick and not me. I just really want to find a forever home where girls are happy to be there. I’m intimidated, but looking forward to rush, too.

Asking a close friend may just be the more intelligent way to go.

COB is fine. People need to relax. Even with 50 COB that is really only about 12% of a 400 member group. I think it is definitely a number they need to work on going forward, but it isn't going to destroy their charter.

They got 50 PNMs in spring 2022 and had 292 members (left) this is nearly 20% and that means 1 of 5 members dropped before (+/-).
