Wearing greek letters

by: Question

I have a question my friend sent me her letters to celebrate her new house. Is it disrespectful to wear it even though it’s a gift?

I would say you’re okay to wear it. As long as you aren’t giving the sorority a bad name while wearing and respecting the letters

You never wear the letters for a sorority or fraternity you aren't in. It's not a football team.

That’s YOUR opinion it’s alright to wear them just don’t act like you’re in the sorority and don’t wear it all the time. Your friend clearly thought you were special enough to share this precious moment in her life. The only thing we ask is don’t disrespect the sorority and have pure intentions while celebrating your friend

How weird that the first thing a new sorority member did is send her friend her letters. This doesn’t sound true in the least.

So now we’re bashing members for “not being taught right” the girl asked if she would wear it to celebrate her friend. Not once did she say she was going to wear it as everyday wear. What’s the difference from parents and siblings wearing their letters or giving out T-shirt’s for parties? It’s not hard to be a nice human being.

I say no. You can thank her and just not wear them. Some houses have rules on wearing letters. It's an honor. Many years ago some houses didn't even allow new members to wear the letters until they were initiated. They could only wear the name of the sorority spelled out. It was considered a privilege to wear the letters.

I don't understand why people are being down voted for saying you do not wear letters of an organization you don't belong to. That is common sense! At least in the south. If it's not your org, you don't wear the letters!

I bet these trolls that play pretend on greek rank also wear letters to make their fantasies a little more real.

Pathetic.
