What are the legitimate rankings for soroities
by: Give me the teaCan someone please explain the legit rankings. Like which houses are top mid and bottom. TY
#4 by: No legit rankings
There's NO accurate ranking for strats at Bama because over 2,000 PNMs rush every year and not every girl wants the same thing.
Some PNMs really want an Old Row chapter and all the southern traditions, sisterhood, and alum connections that come with these houses. Girls from the south almost always want OR, but PNMs from all over the country know about Old Row vs. New Row. It can be hard for non-southerners to get into these chapters and, if they do, they can be more like "filler" girls who never really fit in. OR houses also seem to have more rules for members, or at least they enforce the rules more than NR.
Some PNMs want houses with strong reps for good grades, sisterhood and retention. Those will always be AXO, Alpha Gam and XO (all happen to be OR, too). Those houses cut on grades before rush even starts.
Some PNMs want KD because it's probably the most "southern vibe" house at Bama and you pretty much have to be a legacy to get in, with a few exceptions for daddy's money.
Zeta and Aphi are popular with OOR girls because those houses rush on looks (no hate). These strats are also popular among the frats, so that's another appeal. However, these houses can have problems with grades, retention and (sometimes) sisterhood. It just depends what you want out of a strat as to whether or not Zeta and Aphi are for you. Both are New Row and both are great for the right PNM.
PBP, ADPi, DG, and AOPi are all good houses with strong sisterhoods and grades, and tend to draw girls from OOS. All are New Row.
Not every strat is listed here, but the takeaway is that ALL sororities at Bama are fine - just in different ways. You probably won't find a PNM with Alpha Gam and Alpha Phi on her card for pref - because there's a big difference between those strats. One appeals to some PNMs and one appeals to others. "Ranking" is pointless because not all PNMs want the same things.
And, in the end, the houses decide who gets in anyway. Not much is up to the PNMs.
