can someone explain why APhi is so bad?

by: why tho

I mean, it can't be that horrible if they still have a chapter, right?

The explanation is that they’re literally just not. If u go to school there you would know they’re top 3 social sororities. Greek rank trolls love to be haters

They’re literally fine. Their national leaderships a little sketchy (look up their UMich incident involving their HQ) but they’re popular across the country, especially in the northeast. The haters here are probably mid tier sororities jumping on APhi hoping to lure some girls away from them.

Agree with this but they are popular across the country bc their nationals promotes looks based recruitment

They recruit really pretty girls, the fraternities love them, they have a fun social calendar. But they lack in grades, philanthropy, and sisterhood. If you want a house for the social aspect then alpha phi is a good place to go. If you want a house to volunteer and raise tons of money for your philanthropy, if you want to focus on grades, or if you want to have a strong sisterhood, alpha phi is not the house for you.

It seems to me that they have a very strong sisterhood.

Do you know how much money they raised for their philanthropy last year.?
Are you in the house? Are you a sister ?
If you answer no to any of these questions .. you don’t know . Commenting is pointless
Plus why all the hate about grades . How about hate on fraternities
Average fraternity gpa is 3.00 . Lowest fraternity gpa is 2.69 .. half fall below average undergrad gpa .

they legit raised $16,000 in 2 years, have a whole WEEK long philanthropy event, have won largest fundraising team for the AHA heart walk, host the largest blood drive in the STATE of alabama… haters can try all they want to tear down aphi but they are just too good

$16,000 in 2 years isn’t really that much… I know of smaller schools with smaller chapters raising 5x that

Ladies - This thread is just one of several today started as early as about 6am.

More and more....desperation of other groups who know how great APhi rush has been going. It is neverending...relentless...literally hour after hour.

No one believes it...mostly because it is so obvious. Thread after thread after thread.

You haters are just being ridiculous now.

well, from a former aphi's perspective (i dropped after being in it for 2 years), their sisterhood really wasn't there at all and if you didn't fit the "look" (skinny, blonde, and pretty), you were treated as an outcast. it wasn't worth paying all that money to be treated like that.
maybe it's changed since i've dropped (which was about 2 years ago) but that was my experience at least.

Do you have alum status? Are you an APhi alum now?

no, i was initiated but dropped after only two years of being a member so i couldn't get alum status.

You are probably an alum. You might want to check it out. There are a lot of advantages. Things happen. People drop out of college, get full time jobs, can't afford greek life anymore. I am fairly certain you are still an Alpha Phi. There is probably an alum group in your area. It could be great for connections and friendships. No questions asked.

Once you are initiated, barring a really odd situation, you are an APhi for life.

All the best to you.

The sisterhood is strong.

oh i had no idea that's how it worked. when i dropped i was told that i wasn't eligible for alum status since i wasn't in it for the full four years so i didn't think i would be able to get all the benefits of being an alum.
however i'm from bham so i'm not really sure how big the alum group here would be since the only aphi chapter in the state is at bama. but i'll definitely look into it. thank you so much! :)

I think it depends on the sorority but if you dropped you would have to ask nationals to be reinstated for aum status I think

I am a former Aphi and also dropped after two years. I had a completely different experience than the girl above that posted. I am not what they would call “the pretty blonde girl” but I had a great experience. I left because of personal financial issues but I am still friends with many girls in the chapter and think they are really trying to rebuild after last years scandal. If you enjoyed talking to them and the vibes in the house then definitely go for it.
